Friend,

Over 30 years ago, I came to Colorado for a job interview — and our state quickly became my home. My story before then helps me appreciate it every day.

As the son and grandson of Holocaust survivors, I grew up with a deep appreciation for the opportunities America has given us — and it led me to find purpose in serving others. I’ll dive into my story below, but if you’re short on time, I’d appreciate if you could chip in to my campaign for Governor ahead of our end-of-month fundraising deadline. [[link removed]?]

My grandparents survived World War II thrust between various Nazi concentration camps. And yet, they never let go of hope — my grandmother managed to give birth to my mom, just days before being liberated by U.S. soldiers.

Their survival was a miracle, due to their own resilience and the courage of others who helped them despite the danger. Despite all of it, and maybe due to it, my grandmother was eternally hopeful. When I asked her how she remained so positive through it all, she answered simply, “It is easier to believe.”

That remains a powerful legacy for me. I believe in the promise of America, and in our duty to defend our nation’s commitment to freedom and opportunity for all. That’s why I decided to go to law school, and devote my life to fighting for justice.

After law school, I was humbled to clerk for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She became a mentor and role model for me, and to this day I try to follow her foundational maxim: “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

That’s why, as the People’s Lawyer, I’ve done everything I can to defend your rights and freedoms, and engage with communities all across Colorado.

And we’ve brought home results: I’ve taken on irresponsible corporations and returned millions to Coloradan consumers. I’ve defended the Affordable Care Act, supported the DREAMERs, and protected Colorado’s right to protect our air, land, and water. And I’ve taken on President Trump in court — 35 times and counting — to defend Coloradans’ fundamental rights and freedoms.

I will continue listening to and learning from Coloradans in every corner of our state about the challenges you are facing. That’s how we’ll make government work better for all of us.

I am committed to and believe in a better future for all of us who love Colorado.

If you agree, and you’re ready to fight for a better future for all Coloradans, I hope you’ll make a donation to my campaign for Governor today: [[link removed]?]
