Dixie Beer to be renamed

In a recent statement, Dixie Beer owner Gayle Benson announced that the historic New Orleans beer brand will soon be renamed. Benson said that in light of the “critical conversations about racism and systemic social issues” taking place in the country, “we find it necessary to reflect on the role our brewery can play in making our home more united, strong, and resilient for future generations.” The company will seek input from community stakeholders to choose a new name for the brewery to best represent their community.

Cumberland Farms drops beer and wine ballot question

In Massachusetts, convenience store giant Cumberland Farms was leading the ballot initiative campaign to allow more stores to sell beer and wine. However, they have announced that they will drop the effort due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impacts on the retail sector.

George O’Connor likes to say, “I like beer, it’s my favorite beverage besides water.” His Little Rock, Ark.-based company, O’Connor Distributing, represents the products of more than 60 brewers and is a third-generation beer company.
