Dear John,
At Advocates for Trans Equality, we know that change happens when trans people and our allies are equipped to fight—both inside and outside the courtroom. Our legal internship program trains the next generation of trans rights advocates while advancing critical litigation and advocacy today.
This fall, a new cohort of law students will join our team. They'll work on the front lines of trans justice—supporting our impact litigation, pushing for trans-affirming health care, helping trans people navigate legal name changes, and more.

These interns contribute meaningfully to every part of our legal work. They draft health insurance appeals, research constitutional claims, build policy memos, and assist directly with client intake. Their work strengthens our legal advocacy now and builds the movement's future leaders.
In the face of an escalating and coordinated campaign to roll back trans rights, we respond with bold legal strategies that center trans lives, defend trans rights, and advance systemic change.
Our legal team uses litigation, policy advocacy, and direct service to challenge discrimination, expand access to care, and support trans people in navigating hostile systems. Our impact litigation, Trans Health Project, and Name Change Project are rooted in lived experience and fueled by a commitment to justice.
In a time of rising attacks, our legal work is a lifeline. And a promise. Through our legal internship program, we are training law students to become movement lawyers —grounded in justice, community, and fierce advocacy.
