Tour updates and reception added - register by the September 15 deadline!
The 2025 Michigan Environmental Justice Conference, hosted by the Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate in the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, will take place on September 29 at the Marriott Detroit in the Renaissance Center.
This year’s theme is "Driving Environmental Justice Forward: Action, Equity and Impact." Each pillar will be explored with a focus on moving the hyperlocal nature of environmental justice forward.
Conference highlights
Grassroots leadership, community-driven solutions, collaborative approaches and Michigan’s efforts to advance environmental justice in historically underserved communities will be highlighted.
- What actions and advocacy lead to change for communities?
- How can we facilitate greater positive impacts in underserved, vulnerable communities?
- How can we ensure equitable opportunities for those who live in communities with environmental justice concerns?
The one-day conference will focus on addressing these questions and providing a space for important conversations related to local and state-level resilience amid challenges to environmental, justice, and climate protections.
To focus on investment and impact in communities with environmental justice concerns, the conference will kick off with tours of Environmental Justice Impact Grantee sites in Detroit and southeast Michigan (seats are limited). Those not opting for tours may take advantage of the networking and resource fair opportunities at the conference venue. After the conference, we will hold a networking reception.
