Limiting veterans’ access to abortion care puts lives at risk!

   Dear Friend,
Cutting health care for veterans is unthinkable. Yet, that is exactly what
is on the table. A new Trump Administration rule would cut access to
abortions and counseling for veterans, even in cases of rape or incest.[ [link removed] ]
[1]Tell your leaders to back the Reproductive Freedom for Veterans Act!
Our veterans deserve full access to the reproductive health care they
   need!
The Trump Administration’s new rule would allow abortions only if a doctor
confirms that the mother’s life is in danger if the pregnancy continues.
That means veterans facing serious health risks, or pregnancies from rape
or incest, could be left without care. It is outrageous! And it puts lives
on the line, causes needless sufferings and strips away the right to make
   deeply personal medical decisions.
Our veterans should not lose services they currently receive! The
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) currently allows abortions if a
veteran’s life or health is at risk, or if the pregnancy is from rape or
incest—regardless of state laws. The Reproductive Freedom for Veterans Act
makes sure that veterans and their families can get abortion care,
medication, and counseling through the VA.
[ [link removed] ]It is shameful to deny abortions to anyone who has been raped or faces
health risks from continuing a pregnancy. Yet, policymakers want to strip
veterans of their rights to make personal medical decisions. Raise your
voice to support the Reproductive Freedom for Veterans Act!
Women are the fastest-growing group of veterans. Nearly 300,000
reproductive-age women rely on the VA for care. This proposed rule puts
veterans’ health and lives at risk as shown by cases where women have died
   due to abortion bans.[2]
Many reasons exist for needing an abortion—and all are valid. Everyone
should be able to decide if, when, and how many children to have; yet that
basic right is on the line. The idea that veterans who survived sexual
assault could lose access to abortion care, or that pregnant veterans
facing health risks must continue pregnancies, is unbelievable.

by our government to all who have served.
Our veterans fought for our freedoms. Now we must fight for theirs!
