I have practiced as a licensed clinical social worker and addictions counselor in my community for over 40 years. It is one of the great honors of my run for public office to have the support of thousands of social workers on the frontlines of so many complex issues in our country including mental health, opioid and drug addiction, and domestic violence.
It is striking how similar campaigning and being a social worker actually are. Too many voters have been neglected for far too long, and are desperate to have their voices heard.
The campaign we have assembled together, you and I, is reaching people who have gotten used to being ignored by politicians. Our strategy of showing up, listening, and standing with those people is working, but this kind of progress takes time and money.
