Texas Republicans have rammed through new congressional maps that could give them five more House seats just weeks after Texas Democrats took extraordinary action — breaking quorum and walking out of the state for two weeks — to try to block this scheme.
This is what we’re up against. It’s not just gerrymandering, it’s strategic disenfranchisement.
Now, California Democrats are responding. They’re pushing forward to redraw their own maps — not as a power grab, but to restore balance and send a clear message that Trump’s games won’t go unanswered.
Because now that Republicans have gotten away with this in Texas, they are setting a dangerous precedent: that congressional maps are no longer tied to population or fairness — but to unchecked power.
