John, it’s one of the most difficult times of year for children who experience hunger. Only 13% of kids who rely on free or reduced-price school meals have access to them during the summer. That means many of these kids have not been getting the nutrition they need since their summer break began, which can negatively affect their concentration, memory, mood, and motor skills.
Thankfully, breakfast, lunch and after-school meals programs make a world of difference for kids once they can access them again. Research shows these meals result in improved academic achievement and fewer behavioral challenges.
With kids heading back to school after a long, hungry summer, we need 5,000 supporters to sign our pledge in support of these nutritional lifelines that are helping us end childhood hunger.
Before midnight, will you please add your name to show your support for programs that are crucial at this hungriest time of year for children? Take action and show your commitment to ending childhood hunger in the U.S. now!
Your decision to support children living with hunger is bringing us closer every day to a future where no kid goes hungry. Thank you for your support.
