Dear NRDC Activist,
In a one-two punch to our climate, the Trump administration’s EPA announced their intentions to reverse:
👊 A long-standing finding that carbon dioxide, methane, and other climate-changing pollutants are dangerous to our health and welfare. Called the “endangerment finding,” it’s the legal basis for Clean Air Act standards that cut pollution from some of the dirtiest industries.
👊 Standards that curb pollution from vehicles, the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States and one of the biggest contributors to climate change.
Starting today, concerned citizens are lining up to speak against these harmful proposed changes at public hearings hosted by the EPA. Meanwhile, we need to flood the EPA with public comments to underscore how abandoning climate protections is unacceptable.
Here’s what this attack really means: the Trump administration is proposing to abandon its responsibility to protect people across the United States from floods, fires, and hurricane damage by allowing polluters to dirty our air and further fuel the climate crisis.
It’s not just despicable — it’s illegal. So you can bet we’ll see the Trump administration in court if they follow through.
But the rules haven’t been made final yet — and we hope they never are. That’s why we need activists like you to weigh in on proposed rules that could be catastrophic for our health, wellbeing, and climate.
Please do not miss this chance to make your voice heard at the EPA.
Sincerely,
NRDC
