Friends,
As we begin the month of August, I want to take a moment to share some updates from Washington and here at home. The past few weeks have been full of important work—both honoring the sacrifices of our service members and advancing legislation to address the needs of our community and our country.
For those planning a visit to Washington, D.C., please note that due to ongoing renovations, the White House has informed us that all tours scheduled for September and October will be canceled. We’re keeping a close eye on availability and will share any updates as soon as tours resume. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If my team can be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Serving TX-02 is the honor and privilege of a lifetime, and I will continue working every day to deliver real results for our community.
Sincerely,
|

President Trump Delivering Results
As a veteran, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for the VA to deliver results. Under President Trump’s leadership, the backlog is finally going down and veterans are getting the care they earned. This is real progress for those who served our country. If you need assistance with the VA, please contact my Kingwood Office at (713) 860-1330 or my Woodlands Office at (281) 640-7720. |
Purple Heart Day |
Last week, we honored the brave men and women who were wounded or killed while serving our country in combat.
As a Purple Heart recipient, I know this day is more than just a date on the calendar. It’s a reminder of the sacrifices made, the teammates we’ve lost, and the strength of those still carrying the visible and invisible wounds of war.
Our responsibility to these heroes is not limited to one day. We must honor them year-round by ensuring they get the care, respect, and support they have earned. That will always be one of my top priorities in Congress.

Woodlands Business Advisory Council |
This week, I spoke with the Woodlands Business Advisory Council about what we’re delivering for Texas. We discussed the new “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which locks in the 2017 tax cuts, cuts red tape for small businesses, restores fair 1099 rules, and speeds up energy projects to keep jobs in America. I also highlighted local wins—securing $12 billion to reimburse Texas for border security, advancing carbon capture permitting to boost Houston’s energy sector, and leading efforts to dismantle Mexican cartels. Looking ahead, Congress will focus on confirming conservative judges and securing strong energy and defense funding.

Lyondell Basell |
I had the opportunity to visit the LyondellBasell Channelview Complex—one of the Gulf Coast’s largest petrochemical facilities employing thousands of Texans. We discussed how Congress is cutting red tape to keep energy reliable and affordable, making U.S. manufacturing more competitive through tax reform, and securing the border to protect our communities. I also highlighted efforts to support advanced recycling, strengthen America’s role in global plastics treaty negotiations, and invest in a skilled workforce pipeline. Our goal is simple: keep Texas leading in energy, innovation, and jobs. |
Lake Houston Middle School |
It was an honor to join Humble ISD leaders and the construction team at the opening of the new Lake Houston Middle School. This project showcases the skill and dedication of Texas builders, and I was proud to receive the Eagle Award from the Associated Builders & Contractors in recognition of my work supporting the construction industry. With pro-growth tax reforms, investment in workforce training, and efforts to cut red tape, we’re making it easier for companies to build projects like this that serve our communities and create opportunities for the next generation.

Terraflow Energy Innovation Showcase
I had the honor of participating in the Terraflow Energy Innovation Showcase, which demonstrated how smart policy, cutting-edge technology, and market demand can align to strengthen America’s energy future. Terraflow, a Texas-based leader in long-duration energy storage and grid resilience, is delivering solutions to power the next generation of large, energy-intensive operations—from AI data centers to industrial facilities. Thanks for a great event! |

The Case for an America-First Strategy in Global Plastics Treaty Talks
I led my House Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, backing President Trump’s America-First approach to the UN Global Plastics Treaty talks. Last fall, I opposed the Biden administration’s push for harmful production caps that would have hurt American jobs and manufacturing, and this time I pushed for a science-based, common-sense treaty that protects U.S. competitiveness. With over a million jobs and $500 billion in economic impact on the line, I believe we should lead with innovation, not arbitrary restrictions, and ensure any treaty strengthens American industry while protecting our environment. |

The Primacy Certainty Act
I reintroduced the Primacy Certainty Act with Congressman Pfluger to expedite the approval of Class VI injection wells, which are crucial for carbon capture projects. Our bill requires the EPA to decide on a state’s application within 180 days. If no decision is made within that time and the state has a similar program, the application will automatically take effect after 210 days. This allows states to proceed without delays. By setting clear deadlines and enhancing coordination, we can foster investment, generate employment opportunities, and support energy projects that benefit both the economy and the environment. |

"The Crypto Analysts Cracking Organized Crime"
Jonathan Levin, co-founder and CEO of Chainalysis, a crypto investigations firm that tracks cartels, terror financiers, and cybercriminals, joined me to discuss how criminal networks and hostile regimes use cryptocurrency to fund operations, move drugs, and evade sanctions. We also covered the crypto legislation Congress passed last week, and Jonathan provided a clear, high-level explanation of how blockchains and stablecoins work. This episode offers a comprehensive look at both the promises and the risks of digital assets like Bitcoin.
Prior to starting Chainanaylsis, Jonathan was the CEO of Coinometrics, a company focused on blockchain intelligence. He also worked as a postgraduate economist researching cryptocurrencies at the University of Oxford.

"Remember La Mora"
On the morning of November 4, 2019, a random act of cartel violence in Mexico sent shockwaves across the world. A group of Mormon settlers, in a chance encounter with the Juarez Cartel, were shot, burned alive, and left for dead in the road near their community. Nine American citizens died, and five of them were relatives of Adriana Jones: her sister Rhonita and four of her young nieces and nephews. Adriana joined me to recount the sheer, inhumane brutality of that day, the aftermath, and the systemic failures within Mexico’s police and government which allow tragedies like this to occur.
Adriana Jones is the founder of RhonitaVIVE, an organization dedicated to advocating for justice and support for the victims of cartel violence and organized crime.
