We are going to pass the Election Rigging Response Act in California because Donald Trump cannot be allowed to steal the next election by redrawing maps in red states only.
I've heard the calls to "Do Something!" And I agree. I don’t want to go to another candlelight vigil. I don’t want to hold hands. It's time for action. Concrete action.
And God help us if we're not successful. We may have enjoyed our last free and fair election. They're redrawing districts to hold the House; going after ActBlue and Democrats' ability to fundraise; going after colleges and the free press... We have to act.
This is going to be a big week.
In Texas, it looks like Republicans will pass their new maps.
Here in California, our legislature will put a special election on the ballot for November where the people will vote on our maps.
They don't need a vote of the people in Texas. In California, people will vote. It will be a close election. Republicans will spend more than $100 million to beat us.
So before this week ends and a critical new one begins - I am asking one last time:

Trump is trying to rig the election. Period, full stop. In plain sight… he is trying to wreck this democracy. This is about authoritarianism. He doesn’t believe in the Rule of Law, he believes in the Rule of Don.
