Howdy Comrades!
Welcome to our first newsletter since the 2025 DSA National Convention! There's a lot of great energy in the chapter right now, and in our organization as a whole. If you're not a member yet, if you're brand new, or even if you've been with us for years, this is a perfect time to dedicate yourself to DSA as we fight on behalf of the working class.

Testify at Houston City Council on Tuesday, August 26th at 6:00pm

Last month, HDSA and our immigrant justice coalition partners joined together to pressure city council members to pass legislation fighting against HPD’s collaboration with ICE. Our demands were not heard and we will continue to pressure the city council this month again.
At the end of the month, we will speak directly to City Council Members and the Mayor. If you would like to speak, you must call 832-393-1100 or email [email protected] before Monday, August 25th at 3pm to secure time slot.

Get Trained To Testify At City Council!

First time speaking in front of City Council? Join us for a training on how the Houston Police Department is collaborating with ICE using the NCIC database and how to testify to City Hall about it.

Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar Training (VDVR)

On August 18th, join our Harris County VDVR (volunteer deputy voter registrar) training at 6:00 PM. This is a public event open to members and non-members. We encourage all members to not only come yourself, but invite others!

DSA National Convention Recap

Last weekend, fourteen Houston DSA members joined hundreds of other Democratic Socialists from across the country at our 2025 National Convention. After months of debate climaxing in three days of deliberation, DSA committed firmly to continue the path towards an independent political party. We affirmed our national work of defending immigrant communities, fighting for Palestinian liberation, growing the labor movement, electing socialists, and a wide array of other fronts in confronting fascism. Tens of thousands of working class people have vested hope in DSA as members. Hundreds of thousands more fight with us in the US and across the world. In spite of Trump and his billionaire owners, we fight with new conviction. Join us to build a socialist future!
