Back-to-school season is here, and thanks to the tariffs pushed by the Trump administration, parents and teachers are paying more for school supplies this year.

Colorado parents look to cut costs on back-to-school supplies as prices rise

This year, as [Nemitz] picked up her supplies, she noticed something right away: higher prices. "I even went back to my Target purchases from last year and looked at the prices. I did notice some of the basic things, like the 50-cent things are getting closer to the dollar, water bottles are much more expensive."

Families across Colorado are being squeezed by Trump’s tariffs and having to make hard decisions as parents balance paying the bills and making sure their kids are prepared to head back into the classroom.

Pencils, paper, backpacks, and clothes are all more expensive than they were this time last year, and many parents are planning to cut back or reuse supplies from last year.
