Dear Friend,

Good morning, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

On Friday morning, I joined "Mornings with Maria" on Fox Business to discuss President Donald J. Trump’s results-driven approach on the world stage and our work in Congress to end harmful “debanking” practices perpetrated by Biden regulators.

President Trump’s summit with Vladimir Putin is about more than optics; it’s about results.

We’re also working to codify into law strong protections against politically motivated debanking, dismantling bad policies from the Obama and Biden administrations, and ensuring we have a financial system that serves Americans, not political agendas. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

President Trump and his team are doing an outstanding job working to achieve a peace deal that will end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This is an incredibly difficult deal to achieve, but there is no one I trust more to deliver than President Trump.

I appreciate President Trump’s actions today to combat violent crime in Washington, D.C.. Every American—whether in a small town or our Nation’s capital—deserves to live, work, visit, and raise a family in safety.

Washington D.C.’s 2024 homicide rate (27.54 per 100K) is higher than Bogota’s & Mexico City’s, and vehicle theft is over 3x the national average. In recent months on DC streets, two Israeli embassy staffers were murdered, a Congressional intern was shot and killed, and a Trump Administration staffer was beaten by teenagers attempting to carjack a young woman.

This violence endangers those who live and work in D.C., prevents Americans from safely accessing their government, and undermines our national security. Our capital should be the envy of the world—and a place where all Americans can visit without fear for their safety. Today’s announcement is a strong step in the right direction. It’s always great to join “The Sam Lesante Show.” We covered several topics, including the OBBB and its benefits for Pennsylvania families. We discussed how this plan will save families thousands of dollars in federal taxes while also protecting essential programs, such as Medicaid and SNAP, for those who truly need them. My team and I are closely monitoring the explosion at U.S. Steel’s Clairton Coke Works. My office will continue to track the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.

U.S. Steel is a great Pennsylvania company, powered by the dedication and grit of our steelworkers. I have no doubt they will come together, as a world-class team does, to persevere through this tragic time.

We are keeping those lost and injured, their families and loved ones, and everyone affected in our prayers.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: As President Trump and Congressional Republicans deliver on their promises to restore American greatness, this week’s headlines showcase the undeniable progress. From ramping up deportations of criminal illegal immigrants to sparking massive investments in U.S. manufacturing and cracking down on crime in the nation’s capital, President Trump is proving that bold leadership drives results.

Here are three things to know this Wednesday:

✈️ Criminal Illegal Immigrant Deportations Ramp Up

“The number of ICE flights is skyrocketing” amid President Trump’s unprecedented effort to remove dangerous criminal illegal immigrants <[link removed]> from our homeland, CNN reports <[link removed]>.

“As President Donald Trump moves to remove as many as 1 million immigrants a year from the US, putting more detainees on more airplanes, and with more frequency, has become a key feature of carrying out that endeavor…

Though flights have been a part of US immigration operations for years, the speed and scale of the ICE program today is unprecedented. Since Trump’s inauguration, there have been more than 1,000 deportation flights to other countries, up 15% over the January to July period last year… the increase is notable in its expansiveness as well as volume.”

🏭 Another Big Investment in American Production

GE Appliances announced <[link removed]> a $3 billion investment in its U.S.-based manufacturing, onshoring 1,000 jobs and expanding its plants across five states — further evidence that President Trump’s relentless pursuit of his Made in America agenda is working.

From The Wall Street Journal <[link removed]>:

“GE Appliances said it plans to invest $3 billion to expand and modernize its U.S. factories over the next five years, helping to blunt the effects of tariffs by reshoring some work now done in China and Mexico…

Kevin Nolan, GE Appliances’ chief executive, said that while the company has long aimed to build its products close to their end markets, trade considerations played a role in the decision to upgrade its aging plants.

‘I think it’s become obvious with tariffs that building in the U.S. is a good thing right now,’ he said…

The Trump administration’s aggressive trade stance is propelling other industries to increase investment in U.S. production. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing has been directing funds more quickly toward U.S. expansion ahead of possible U.S. tariffs, The Wall Street Journal reported last month. Drugmakers have also outlined plans to step up investment in U.S. production, after the Trump administration prepared to levy duties on medicine imports.”

⚖️ Trump Administration Finally Brings Accountability to D.C.

As the Trump Administration continues its long-promised <[link removed]> push to Make D.C. Safe Again <[link removed]>, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro has a warning for would-be criminals: “We will identify you, prosecute you and convict you,” she writes in The Washington Post <[link removed]>.

“My job is to prosecute crime and ensure that people who live in and visit our nation’s capital are safe. President Donald Trump has drawn much-needed attention to public safety in this city to make D.C. safe and beautiful. To do so, I must demand accountability from juvenile and young adult offenders.

Unfortunately, young criminals have been emboldened to think they can get away with committing crime in this city, and, very often, they do. But together with our local and federal partners, our message to them today is: We will identify you, prosecute you and convict you. For any juveniles: We are going to push to change the laws so that if you commit any violent crime, I have jurisdiction to prosecute you where you belong — in adult court…

We deserve a safe capital. In fact, we have a right to demand it. Here in the U.S. attorney’s office, we are tirelessly working to protect all people who live in, work and visit our nation’s capital.”

Around the District:

On Monday, I visited the 167th Annual Harford Fair in Susquehanna County. The Harford Fair is rooted in agriculture, tradition, and community. It was a pleasure to speak with so many friends and neighbors, and to see the pride that Susquehanna County residents take in their work, crafts, and heritage on display. Thank you to everyone who makes this such a success year after year!

On Tuesday, I joined Americans for Prosperity alongside Senator Dave Argall, Representative Joanne Stehr, Representative Tim Twardzik, Schuylkill County Commissioner Larry Padora, Schuylkill County Controller Sharyn Yackenchick, and Schuylkill County Register of Wills Theresa Gaffney at The Farm Store in Pottsville for “One Big Beautiful Celebration.”

I enjoyed speaking with constituents about the agricultural wins in the One Big Beautiful Bill and how these provisions will benefit Pennsylvania’s farmers, families, and local economies.

Thank you to Americans for Prosperity, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and the Farm Store for hosting an outstanding event and for your continued work in supporting our families and the agriculture industry. Congratulations to Angela and Josiah Meck on their farm-to-table grocery store, a welcome addition to our community. Click here <[link removed]> or below to learn more.

On Wednesday, we kicked off the Little League World Series in Williamsport by joining local community leaders for a welcome event hosted by Ed Metzger before participating in the Grand Slam Parade alongside Nancy Frye, Abigail, Terri, and Ruth Lauchle, Susannah Schuler, Robin Camerer, Jill and James May, and baseball fans from around the world.

Following the parade, I joined Representative Jamie Flick to celebrate this incredible event, which showcases not just the best in youth baseball but also the spirit, sportsmanship, and hospitality of our region.

Also in attendance were: PA Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy Walker, Rep. Robert Leadbeter, Rep. David Rowe, Lycoming County Commissioners: Marc Sortman and Mark Mussina, Lycoming County District Attorney Tom Marino, Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter, Members of Williamsport City Council, and Dr. Mike Reed, President of Penn College of Technology, Chip Edmonds, President of Lycoming College, National Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher, Billy Wagner, and many other supporters.

Special thanks to sponsors: Malady & Wooten, Cottera Energy, and Seneca Resources for making this evening possible. Best of luck to all the players, coaches, and families—enjoy every moment!

Later, I joined Ag Progress Days to celebrate the incredible agricultural innovation and tradition of our Commonwealth.

It was great to walk the grounds with Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Federation President Chris Hoffman and join him at the Farm Bureau booth, where we were met by USDA State Director for Rural Development Mike Cabell.

I then had the pleasure of attending the Ag Progress Legislative Luncheon alongside my colleagues, Congressman GT Thompson and Congressman Rob Bresnahan, as well as Senator McCormick’s State Director Ryan Aument, Governor Josh Shapiro, Treasurer Stacy Garrity, Auditor General Tim DeFoor, and many members of our Pennsylvania House and Senate delegations.

I also sat down for a conversation with Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi and Troy Ott, Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences. (See picture below of Congressman Rob Bresnahan and me with PSU President Bendapudi)

Following the luncheon, I joined House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson, Committee Member Rep. Rob Bresnahan, Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding, and PA Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman for a panel discussion on the vital agricultural efforts in our districts and the real issues facing our farmers and the agricultural industry.

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make Ag Progress Days a success, especially Penn State University, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and their team.

On Thursday, I attended an event in Luzerne County supporting Representative Jamie Walsh. I was joined by my wife, Shelley; Congressman Bresnahan; Treasurer Stacy Garrity; Senator Dave Argall and his wife, Beth; Representative Jamie Barton; and candidate for Commonwealth Court, Matt Wolford.

On Friday, we celebrated 90 years ago, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law — a promise to our seniors that their hard work and dedication to building our Nation would be honored with the stability and support they deserve.

Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and the passage of the historic One Big Beautiful Bill, that promise is stronger than ever. Today, the vast majority of seniors receiving Social Security will pay ZERO tax on their benefits — the largest tax break for seniors in American history.

We remain committed to protecting, strengthening, and securing Social Security for all who earned it.

On Friday, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry does outstanding work advocating for pro-growth policies, supporting our job creators, and strengthening Pennsylvania’s economy.

It was great to join them for a tour of the Pride Mobility facilities. I would especially like to thank our good friend and Chamber President and CEO, Luke Bernstein, who is doing a great job promoting Pennsylvania business in Harrisburg and across the Commonwealth.

I had a wonderful afternoon yesterday in Schuylkill County, joining the Republican Committee for the 71st Annual Schuylkill County Firefighters’ Convention Parade. This year’s convention was hosted by Friendship Fire Company No. 1 of Englewood, as they celebrated 100 years of service to their community —an extraordinary milestone that reflects the strength and tradition of firefighting in our region.

It was a pleasure to speak with constituents and meet local firefighters and first responders alongside Senator Dave Argall, Representative Jamie Barton, Representative Joanne Stehr, Representative Tim Twardzik, SCRC Chairman Gary Feathers, and many other dedicated members of the Schuylkill County Republican Committee.

Joining us on the parade route were Schuylkill County Commissioners Larry Padora and Boots Hetherington, Treasurer Lina Yeich, Pottsville mayoral candidate Tom Smith, Pottsville City Council candidate Scott Price, and Frackville Mayor Kim Phillips.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our firefighters in Schuylkill County and across our district for your unwavering service and sacrifice.

Last evening, Shelley and I attended the wedding of our good friend and colleague, Congressman Rob Bresnahan and his bride, Chelsea. We congratulate Rob and Chelsea on their wedding and offer our best wishes for a fantastic future. (Pictured below with the bride and groom)

(Shelley and I pictured below with Leo Vergnetti, Newsmax's Sharla McBride and her husband Todd, and our amazing State Treasurer Stacy Garrity)

May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,
