When I enlisted in the Marines after 9/11, I knew I was signing up for a challenge. In the Marines, you learn quickly:
Everyone carries their weight.
You watch your buddy’s back.
The mission comes before yourself.
In combat, there’s no ducking responsibility. You don’t abandon your team. And you never put yourself ahead of the people depending on you.
Those lessons guide me every single day in Congress. I work to bring people together, face tough problems head-on, and always put the people I serve first — no matter how messy the politics get.
That’s the kind of leadership I believe Congress needs more of. But fighting for it means going up against well-funded special interests that would rather see me gone.
