Dear john,

Today marks a special anniversary for the metro Atlanta community. On this day in 1978, President Jimmy Carter formally established the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, preserving nearly 7,000 acres of parkland in metro Atlanta. In honor of President Carter's legacy, I joined the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy to speak about my commitment to protecting this public land and spend time with kayakers before they embarked on a paddle in commemoration of today's anniversary.

This week provided several opportunities to engage with the business community across the entire Sixth District. I delivered remarks at both the Cobb Chamber and Fayette Chamber and had the chance to answer questions from business leaders about some of their most urgent concerns. I want business owners and entrepreneurs in this district to understand that I am an advocate and a champion for your needs in Congress. Please continue to engage with me and my office so I can voice your concerns to my colleagues in Washington.

Despite some of the challenges we face regarding federal funding, I am always focused on opportunities to bring investments back home for the benefit of our entire state. That is why I was so thrilled to visit the University of Georgia this week to meet with recipients of two Community Project Funding awards I helped submit over the past few years: The Archway Partnership and the Cognitive Aging Research and Education Center. Though UGA may be located in Athens, its public service and outreach mission extends its presence into every county in Georgia. Truly, every Georgian is benefitting from the great work taking place at the University of Georgia.

Thank you for taking the time to stay up to date with my office. As the August Work Period continues, please stay in touch and do not hesitate to reach out if my staff and I can assist you with any federal issues.

Sincerely,
