Every Election Day these past few months we hold our breath and watch as voters are forced to wait in line to cast their ballots. Who would have thought 2020 would turn out like this?
It’s even worse knowing that Republican officials in those same states are doing nothing to make it safer and easier to vote while we’re in the midst of a pandemic. Texas, Iowa, and Georgia politicians are all hell-bent on stopping the expansion of vote-by-mail.
If you’re like me, you can’t sit on the sidelines and watch this happen again in November -- the most important election of our lifetime. We found a solution that allows anyone to help out. Donate and we’ll send applications directly to “dual-risk” voters, those most likely to contract COVID-19 and the least likely to request a mail-in ballot. Then we’re following up with texts and calls to make sure these voters return the application so they can vote safely at home.
If you like helping out on campaigns, a global pandemic can really throw a wrench into things. I’m someone who spends the majority of the year in field offices with volunteers and organizers who are all getting out the vote.
That’s not happening in 2020 and at first it made me really anxious. I had to find a way to defeat Trump -- and make voting safe and accessible.
No matter where you live in the country, you can help make voting-by-mail easier for Americans in swing states. I’m asking you to join us -- with just a $5 or $10 -- to protect the vote in 2020.
There are a lot of people spending time trying to predict who’s going to win this year. We’re seeing new polls every day which is nice but mean nothing. We must work for the outcome we want in this election, and vote-by-mail is our path to victory.
