Dear Pro-life Friend,

The Leadbeater Assisted Suicide Bill can still be defeated.

The death lobby would love us to think they have already won.

Their best chance of victory is that we give up the fight too soon.

They would love us to throw our hands in the air and say: “Now that it has been approved by MPs there is no hope.”

But that is not true.

The Leadbeater Bill only got through the Commons by a margin of 23 votes. If just 12 MPs had voted the other way, the Bill would have been defeated for good.

That narrow margin shows just how strong the opposition to the Bill is.

The most pro-death Parliament in history came within 12 votes of rejecting Assisted Suicide.

That isn’t because those MPs are all good men and women who follow their consciences.

Many of them had voted three days earlier to kill innocent babies right up until birth.

It’s because SPUC’s campaigning showed them just how much public opposition there is to Assisted Suicide, and they were afraid of losing their seats.
SPUC team members and supporters stand united in opposition to assisted suicide. Parliamentary Officer, Monika Užkalnytė and SPUC Walsall branch member, Graham pictured on 20th June 2025.
We are now bringing that same pressure to bear on peers and making sure that the death lobby’s propaganda is fully exposed by SPUC’s research and analysis.

A Private Member’s Bill with such tenuous support in the Commons is much more likely to be rejected by the House of Lords than a Government Bill backed by a large majority.

And the Bill contains a provision that may well prove fatal to the death lobby.

Even if Leadbeater makes its way through the Lords, it won’t come into force until 2029.

And we may have had a General Election by then.

This means that we still have four years to stop it ever being implemented, even if peers approve the Bill.

There is only ONE scenario in which the death lobby’s victory is certain – if we stop fighting.

And SPUC will never stop fighting…

But we need your help.

The first phase of our FIGHT BACK campaign is estimated to cost £250k.

And this is just the beginning of what could turn out to be a long four-year fight.

So far, we have raised £72k.

That’s a wonderful start, but we still have a long way to go.

The whole sum must be raised in the next two weeks.

All SPUC’s work is made possible by individual donors like you. We don’t receive money from big business or public authorities. This keeps us independent and free.

The source of our strength is generous gifts given by men and women who love life and hate injustice.

Together we fight for no other cause than to protect innocent babies and vulnerable people, and to build a better world for our children and grandchildren.

They fight because they allow innocence, love, and life to be set aside for power and money.

They often have a head start because they are driven to do things that normal people don’t even think about. Normal people are focused on ordinary life.

But when the good begin to fight, the powers of evil tremble.

And SPUC’s fight is far from over; in fact, it’s just beginning.

Every member of my team will fight day in and day out to make sure that this wicked law is never implemented, whether that fight be four months or four years.

We will do this because failure to stop Leadbeater will have consequences that are too terrible to imagine.

It’s important at times like this to remember just why we fight, and why we will never give up or compromise.

Below this email, I have shared ten reasons why we MUST defeat the Leadbeater Bill.

If you agree that we can’t ever allow this change to take place in our country, please make a donation
to our campaign TODAY.

We MUST raise £250k during this campaign.

Your gift will be a crucial step towards meeting this goal and fully funding our campaign.

Your gift will be an act of goodness in a darkening world. And every good act will contribute to evil’s downfall.

May God bless you and your family, and may He reward you for your love for the innocent and vulnerable among us.

Ten reasons why we MUST defeat the Leadbeater Bill:
  1. Vulnerable people will feel pressure to die: The sick, elderly, and disabled are already being told their lives are a burden. If this Bill is implemented, many will feel pressured to die.
  2. Unscrupulous relatives and friends will be empowered: The vulnerable could be pressured to die by those who will gain financially from their deaths.
  3. Suicide will become a profitable business: In countries like Switzerland, suicide is a business. Profit-making companies have a financial incentive to persuade people to kill themselves. This could also happen here.
  4. Suicide has a terrible impact on those left behind: Suicide causes immense suffering to family and friends. Under the Leadbeater Bill, even more people will experience this agony of abandonment and loss.
  5. Precious moments will be lost: Medical prognoses are often wrong. Many people live months, even years, longer than expected. Assisted Suicide will rob those approaching the end of life of precious moments of life and love.
  6. Doctors will become killers: Doctors have always been there to help us heal. Under Leadbeater they will also be there to help us die. This will destroy the bond of trust between doctors and patients.
  7. Death will become a “choice”: Death will no longer be the natural end of life - we will ALL feel pressured to “choose” when and where our life ends.
  8. It’s easier to stop bad laws before they are passed: We CAN stop Leadbeater now. Fighting to overturn the Bill after it is implemented could take years, even decades, to achieve.
  9. Assisted Suicide will reinforce abortion laws: If the culture of death extends to the end of life, it will be harder to defeat it at the beginning of life. If we defeat Assisted Suicide, the end of abortion will come closer.
  10. More radical laws will follow: The suicide lobby is already saying Leadbeater doesn’t go far enough. They WILL push for even more terrible laws – like the killing of the mentally ill - if Leadbeater passes.
