Dear friend,
It’s your Congresswoman, hoping you are safe and doing well. After experiencing historic amounts of flooding throughout area, I wanted to offer resources to help you. You can visit my webpage with resources here.
If you experienced flooding damage, I highly encourage you all to report it to the 211 Wisconsin Disaster Report here. This will be an information-gathering site that will help local officials assess the total damage in our community. You can also dial 211 to get access to community assistance programs.
The city of Milwaukee is offering free drop-off centers through August 17th. Additionally, you can request a pick-up of damaged items here. Fees will be waived through August 17th.
NOTE: Even though Governor Evers declared a state of emergency, our area is not a federally declared disaster area. This means FEMA resources are not available for those affected by flooding in our community. A request for federal assistance through FEMA must come from the Governor’s Office and the total damage must exceed a certain threshold to qualify.
Our Office is Here to Help
As always, my office is here to help. If you are a resident of WI-04 and need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my district office 414-297-1140.
Your friend,
Gwen
