John, during his campaign, Trump promised to dismantle the Department of Education entirely. And just six months in, we've seen how far he's willing to go to get the job done.
Schools across PA learned recently that the funds they’d been promised to pay for services to students when they came back this fall, weren’t coming. For schools in PA-06 alone, that was $7 million. As teachers were scrambling to figure out how to transport, feed, and supply materials for our kids, I was raising the alarm in Washington.
Thankfully, those funds have now been released but this is yet another case of the President being both the arsonist and the firefighter: He recklessly and dangerously sets something on fire and then likes to be the hero who puts it out. Although this education crisis was averted, our fight for education is far from over, John.
As a former teacher, I know firsthand how education can open doors and break down barriers. That's why I've worked tirelessly in Congress to advocate for quality education for all, from leading efforts to invest in public schools to supporting teachers.
But my efforts to expand access to education are being gutted by Trump's GOP allies in Congress, who are backing the mass firings within the Department of Education and making student loans more expensive and harder to get. Please, will you chip in $5 right away to help me defend public education?

My parents always told me that education was the one thing no one can ever take from you, and they were right. And while hard-earned education cannot be stripped away, access and opportunity can be. That's what we're seeing today.
Our students, educators, and communities deserve better, John. That's why I'm committed to doing everything I can to stop the GOP's attacks against public education – but I can't do it without you.
Please, will you chip in $5 or more right now to help me reach my $5,000 goal so we can continue to protect PA-06 from the Trump administration's disastrous agenda and defend education?

There's work to be done.
