When it comes to protecting our coastal communities, there is no room for delay or excuses. Since a fire damaged the facility housing the National Weather Radio transmitter in Galveston on March 25, 2025, this critical system has been offline. This transmitter is not just a piece of equipment; it is a lifeline. It provides advanced warnings and real-time updates when severe weather threatens. Without it, families, businesses, and emergency responders are left more vulnerable than ever, especially now that we are in the middle of hurricane season.
Months ago, my staff, because we work for you, reached out to NOAA to get answers on when the service would be restored. We did not get a clear response. That lack of transparency and urgency is unacceptable. I understand the frustration from all of my constituents on this issue. That is why, last week, I sent a formal letter to NOAA demanding accountability, a clear timeline, and an honest explanation for the delay in restoring service. Southeast Texas deserves to know exactly what is being done to protect them.
Just days after sending that letter, NOAA announced that the All Hazards Weather Radio signal for Galveston County will finally be restored by August 15. While this is welcome news, it should not take a Congressman’s formal demand to get a straight answer from a federal agency. Restoring this system should have been a top priority from the moment it went offline, and there should have been regular, transparent updates to the public.
I will continue to fight for accountability, demand answers, and push federal agencies to act with urgency. When lives are on the line, time is not on our side, and in Texas, we know that storms can form and strike with little warning. We must be ready, and that means having every possible tool in place to keep our people safe.

This week, we proudly celebrated the United States Coast Guard’s birthday in Galveston. We are grateful to these courageous men and women who safeguard our waterways and protect our nation’s Gulf Coast every day.
Team Weber also attended ribbon cuttings for two vital small businesses in our district: Unwritten Chapters Counseling and Peacemakers Counseling & EMDR Therapy in League City, and Galveston Limousine in Galveston. These local businesses strengthen our community and create jobs we can be proud of. In our League City office, Team Weber met with Dr. Rose Caballero and Ms. Patricia Cervenka Huffman to discuss Huntington’s disease—a rare, hereditary neurodegenerative disorder that deeply impacts families. We remain committed to supporting those affected and advancing awareness.
Over in Beaumont, the U.S. Army 843rd Transportation Battalion held its Change of Responsibility ceremony, where Sergeant Major Jacinta Moore passed the torch to Sergeant Major Randall Gibon. This battalion plays a crucial role managing military equipment flowing through the Port of Beaumont, a vital hub for national defense.

A big THANK YOU to our League City summer interns, Audrey and Jolie! These bright young women have been a tremendous help, assisting constituents, researching legislation, and keeping the office running smoothly. We’re grateful for their hard work and can’t wait to see all they accomplish next!
