Dear john, This week, my thoughts are with the Ft. Stewart community as they deal with the aftermath of Wednesday's shooting. I am grateful to every first responder who took action and prevented loss of life. While I am relieved to know that the five victims are expected to make a full recovery, I am dedicated to ensuring that we pursue solutions so that senseless events like this do not happen in the future. As the August Work Period continues, I am continuing to place an emphasis on serving the needs of the people. I've been privileged to spend time with senior centers and nonprofit organizations. While nonprofits and community-based organizations continue to plan for an uncertain future, my office remains a resource for everyone in our district. Take a look at some of my recent visits below: | Grady Hospital plays such a vital role in our community. In case you didn't know, Union City will soon be the home to Grady Hospital's new Free-Standing Emergency Department! I remain deeply concerned about the impact that federal funding cuts will have on hospitals in Georgia, but this new facility is welcome news for an area that is considered a health care desert. Grady's new facility will allow constituents in our district to seek emergency care right in their community without having to drive into downtown. I was so glad to tour the construction site with Mayor Williams. | As part of my ongoing commitment to ensuring that young people have access to high quality care, I was delighted to welcome leadership from Hillside to my office to discuss the residential treatment and community mental health services they offer in Georgia. Protecting equal access to mental health support is important to me, and I will continue to fight for telehealth expansion, investments in our mental health workforce, insurance coverage for mental health services, and full funding of the 988 hotline. Thanks for coming by my office, Hillside! | Thank you for taking the time to stay up to date with my office. As the August Work Period continues, please stay in touch and do not hesitate to reach out if my staff and I can assist you with any federal issues. | Rep.
