Team —
It’s simple: Republicans are scared of losing power in next year’s midterm elections, so they’re trying to cheat. Look no further than the Texas GOP’s new gerrymandering scheme, which could allow them to cling onto House control:
CNN: “Texas Republicans release new House maps as they attempt to take five Democratic seats”
As the state was recovering from devastating floods, Texas Governor Greg Abbott called for a special session — not to solely discuss how to support communities, but to discuss how to redraw the congressional map in Republicans’ favor ahead of the 2026 midterms.
This is an unprecedented move — and is a deliberate attempt to silence voices and further disenfranchise voters. It goes against everything we stand for at Fair Fight.
They’d rather gerrymander maps instead of working to earn votes.
At Fair Fight, we believe voters should choose their leaders — not the other way around. That’s why we oppose this brazen powergrab by MAGA. But in this moment, when Republican politicians are gerrymandering to entrench minority rule, the only way to protect fair representation is to fight back with equal force. Defending democracy means using every tool we’ve got — because the other side already is. Chip in now to help us keep up the fight. [[link removed]]

Normally, maps are redrawn every 10 years based on new census data. But recently, maps are being redrawn more frequently thanks to extreme partisan politics.
Just last month, the Florida Supreme Court upheld a map that dilutes the power of Black voters in the state, gutting a district that was historically Black. They broke up the district into FOUR separate districts in an effort to unseat a long-time Black representative.
And now, a case currently pending before the U.S. Supreme Court — which is dominated by a far-right, MAGA majority — could potentially dismantle the Voting Rights Act as we know it.
Gerrymandering is undemocratic — and it’s long been used to suppress Black political power. Now, MAGA politicians are escalating to rig the 2026 midterms and entrench minority rule. In moments like this, protecting fair representation means fighting fire with fire — we can't pretend this is politics as usual.
From Texas’ attempt to disenfranchise voters in order to pick up five congressional seats, to the upcoming voter purge in Georgia, it’s not difficult to see the Republican strategy: Suppress voters, silence the people, and remain in power by engaging in the most anti-democratic strategy possible.
Fair Fight is fighting back — on the ground, in the courts, and at the ballot box. Will you pitch in today to support our critical work? [[link removed]]
