Email from Rep. Nehls Rep. Troy E. Nehls Meets with Texas Farm Bureau Members Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap of what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. My team and I have been diligently working for the constituents of the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. Since January, we have successfully returned over $10.9 million to residents through casework and have resolved over a thousand individual cases throughout the district. I am proud to fight for you every day in Congress! If you need assistance with a federal agency like the Social Security Administration (SSA) or the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), please contact me on my website. Be sure to fill out the Digital Privacy Release Form (DPRF) here to streamline the process. This Week in Texas' 22nd District Rep. Troy E. Nehls Holds Townhall with Texas Farm Bureau Members This week, I had the pleasure of having lunch with members of the Texas Farm Bureau from across Texas's 22nd District. During our meeting, we discussed the wins for America's farmers included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), the status of the Farm Bill, and the work Congress is doing to mitigate the New World Screwworm (NWS). The OBBBA's agriculture title provides the largest investment in American farmers in at least a generation. Further, this legislation provides historic tax relief for farmers, ranchers, and small business owners. For far too long, our nation's farmers have been left behind. I'm proud to have voted "YES" for the OBBBA to support those who feed, fuel, and clothe not only our country, but the world. The NWS is a parasitic fly whose larvae feed on the living tissue of warm-blooded animals, such as cattle. It is a pest that could cause severe harm to the U.S. livestock industry. Currently, there are over 3,800 cases in Mexico, less than 350 miles from the Texas border, and it's moving northward at a rapid pace. To ensure our livestock industry is protected from this threat, I am proud to announce that I am a cosponsor of several pieces of legislation, including H.R. 3392, the STOP Screwworms Act, which directs the Secretary of Agriculture to construct a facility to both produce and disperse sterile flies to combat the NWS infestation. Our nation's farmers and ranchers work day in and day out to put food on our tables. May God bless them! Service Academy Nominations Are Now Open My office is now accepting Service Academy Nominations. One of the privileges of serving in the United States House of Representatives is the opportunity to nominate outstanding young people from the 22nd Congressional District of Texas to be considered for appointment to our nation’s service academies. Admission to a service academy is a two-tiered process. First, the candidate must meet the minimum standards set by the individual academy. Second, the candidate must complete the congressional application by October 10, 2025, to be considered for an interview in our office with the nomination review board. Please note that the ultimate selection of appointees rests solely with academy officials and is based on their competitive evaluation of all nominees. The checklist and application can be found on my website. If you have any questions, please email

Federal resources, such as those provided by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Ready.gov, offer valuable guidance, including emergency alerts, disaster planning tools, and response checklists tailored to individual and family needs. As hurricane season approaches, staying proactive can make a significant difference. Monitor trusted sources like the National Hurricane Center for real-time updates and establish a comprehensive emergency plan that covers evacuation routes, family communication, and essential supplies. It’s also wise to prepare your home by securing outdoor items, reinforcing windows and doors, and reviewing your insurance policies—especially for those in coastal or flood-prone areas. For further assistance, FEMA’s Resource Library for Individual Assistance provides clear information on disaster support services, how assistance works, and what steps to take after applying. If you’ve already submitted a claim, visit I Applied for Assistance. What's Next? on FEMA.gov for guidance on next steps. Be sure to check out my website for further local and state resources on how to prepare for a natural disaster. If you have any questions or need support, please contact Congressman Nehls’ Fulshear District Office at (346) 662-6600. Our office is here to assist you throughout this hurricane season.
