TTB extends beer destruction notice of intent waiver to September

Earlier this year due to the pandemic, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) waived the requirement that brewers give 12 days notice before destroying expired beer. This week TTB announced that it is extending the waiver through September 1, 2020.

‘Sin Taxes’ possible to support state budgets

With revenues in flux, the pandemic is causing states to reassess their budgets. Gas tax revenue plummeted this spring, income taxes won’t rebound anytime soon and some states are offering a property tax holiday because people can’t pay during the pandemic. But so-called sin taxes are getting attention as as a steady source of revenue since liquor stores sales have increased and marijuana and tobacco sales continue.
