Dear Pro-life Friend,
There are moments in history when evil reveals itself plainly.
On 17 June, by a shocking margin of 379 to 137, MPs approved an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill which decriminalises abortion right up to the moment of birth.
On 20 June, the same politicians voted for the Leadbeater Bill by a margin of 314 to 291. This Bill authorises doctors to kill terminally ill patients.
This is the most pro-death Parliament in history. It has declared war on innocents at the beginning and end of life.
SPUC will not let them get away with this. SPUC is FIGHTING BACK.
But we need your help TODAY.

Abortion is the greatest evil ever to be perpetrated in our country. By approving abortion up to birth, our politicians are trying to bring the process begun in 1967 to its bloody conclusion.
If this law gets through the House of Lords, every unborn baby in Britain could be legally put to death.
This is a moment of national shame like no other.
Our duty now is to make sure it’s also a moment of national awakening.
I have fought abortion for more than thirty years, and I have never witnessed public revulsion on the scale we are seeing in response to abortion up to birth.
People of all ages and backgrounds are horrified by the thought of fully formed babies being killed. Even mainstream news programmes have broadcast the public outrage.
For decades, the abortion lobby has denied the humanity of unborn children. They have dehumanised our precious babies as “pieces of tissue” or “clumps of cells.”
Many of our countrymen have been deceived by this propaganda.
But the humanity of a baby just before birth can be easily grasped by everyone.
That’s why this new law has provoked such horror.
The abortion lobby, in winning this vote, has won a political victory. But they have also shown millions of people what they really are – callous, cynical, cold-hearted killers.
This is a strategic mistake for which SPUC will make them pay a high price.
A few months ago, I asked you to help SPUC fund a poll to find out what the British public really thinks about abortion.
The findings prove what anecdotal experience suggests: only 5% of the British population supports abortion up to birth.
And that wasn’t the only important finding.
Only 17% of the public support abortion when a baby can feel pain (13 weeks), and only 16% when the baby can survive outside the womb (now as low as 20 weeks).
This means that the British public wants stricter abortion laws, not more radical laws.
And that is exactly what the abortion lobby knows and fears.
Stella Creasy, Britain’s most radical abortion MP, has warned that abortion activists need to “wake up” and “take extreme caution” because “SPUC lobbies hard”.
The reason the death lobby pushed so hard to kill babies up to birth – despite the danger of waking the public up – is that they thought this pro-death parliament might be their last chance.
All over the western world, public opinion is undergoing rapid change. Trust in the mainstream media and the political elite has never been lower. And the dominant liberal consensus is being challenged like never before.
The overturning of Roe v Wade in the United States, and the banning of abortion in many states, has set shockwaves through the worldwide abortion movement.
Winds of political change are blowing in Britain too. And it’s SPUC’s job to make sure that Britain’s babies and vulnerable adults are kept centre stage whoever is in power.
For many years SPUC has been laying the groundwork for the great fightback against abortion.
We have:
* Built a network of more than 60 branches, covering the length and breadth of the United Kingdom
* Established professional teams, operating out offices in London, Glasgow, and Belfast
* Built up a massive pro-life activist army, numbering tens of thousands of people
* Reached hundreds of thousands of young people through our schools and university outreach
* Brought the truth about abortion – and the beauty of human life – to millions of people nationwide through leafleting, acts of public witness, and street witness.
SPUC has kept the flame of life alive in the darkest times.
Now we must turn it into a roaring flame.

SPUC’s FIGHTBACK campaign has three elements:
1. Immediate action to defeat both Bills in the House of Lords
2. A nationwide campaign to ensure that we elect a pro-life parliament to end abortion forever
3. A new counter-propaganda strategy to give the public the full truth about abortion
Total costs for the first phase are expected to reach £250k.

But if you already know that you want to be part of this great FIGHTBACK campaign, please don’t delay.
Donations made today will immediately be put to work.

The battle ahead of us will be the toughest ever. But it is one which simply must be won.
We can’t allow more babies to be killed in our country. We can’t allow our sick and elderly to be killed rather than cared for. We must defeat these evils, once and for all.
The British people have had enough of politicians with neither morals nor principles. But we must help them find their voice.
We must elect a pro-life Parliament.
Every gift made TODAY brings that goal one step closer.

This is the great battle of our time.
If you can, please give at whatever level is right for you.
Every gift, £5 or £5,000, will play its own irreplaceable role in winning victory for our babies, and all those who need our love most.
May God bless you for your great love,
John Deighan
Chief Executive
PS: Abortion up to birth is a monstrous evil. History will judge how we respond to this challenge. Please donate today and become part of the greatest FIGHTBACK ever.
