** Consultation response: Men’s Health Strategy

Alcohol Change UK has provided a response to the call for evidence which will inform the development of a Men's Health Strategy for England.

This is part of the government’s programme to reform the NHS, with the aim of ensuring that services are responsive to men and outcomes are improved.

** TfL’s Drugs and Alcohol Assessment and Treatment Service: “Employees receive our full support and care”

Transport for London (TfL) offers an in-house drug and alcohol service for its staff which to date has helped over 3,000 of its colleagues. It is a proactive and supportive safe space to help employees experiencing issues around drugs, alcohol, and gambling. It’s built around an open-door policy, and staff members can refer themselves to the service.

Daniel Ruggirello (MBACP) works as a counsellor for this service at TfL and has written a piece reflecting on the success of the service and how it supports all employees at TfL.

Welsh Government says “MUP has been positive in Wales”

The Welsh Government has released an independent review on the operation and impact of minimum unit pricing (MUP) for alcohol in Wales. It found that, since its launch in 2020, MUP has generally had a positive effect and has helped achieve its intended policy goals. This is despite difficulties in evaluating it due to external factors like the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis

All too often in the world of health promotion, we imagine that generic information and support will do the trick. One of the largest groups of people that these generic approaches let down is women.
