Earlier this week, Texas Democrats "walked out on a rigged system" to protect Texas voters from an all-out assault on democracy.

Last Wednesday, the Texas GOP unveiled its proposed new congressional map – one that hands over five new seats to Donald Trump after the midterm elections next year.

In an extraordinary step to protect free and fair elections, Democrats left the state in order to deny quorum in the Texas House and prevent a vote on their gerrymandered map.

Texans – and all Americans – must know that their voices and their votes are heard and accounted for. Redrawing maps to silence voters is shameful. This sham plan does nothing more than take power away from those who denounce Trump and his cronies.

Voters choose their representatives, not the other way around.

Texans deserve leaders who earn our trust at the ballot box – not through maps drawn behind closed doors. We need fair maps, fair elections, and a process that puts the people first.

Add your name to stand up and end this gerrymander takeover in Texas. [[link removed] petition-texas-e]
