Dear New Yorkers,
Today, with the trustees of the City’s five retirement systems, I am proud to announce strong 10.3% pension returns for Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
These returns exceeded our targets for the third consecutive fiscal year, delivering $2.18 billion in savings for the City that we’ll be able to invest in schools, housing, and other critical social services that benefit New Yorkers. Watch my announcement below.

This is a win for retirees – and all of New York City!
These secure returns are also a testament to this office’s talented Bureau of Asset Management [[link removed]] team. By taking a disciplined, long-term approach that integrates responsible investing as a strategy, we’ve been able to assess and mitigate portfolio risk.

Despite market volatility due in part to the shifts in federal policy and the introduction of new trade tariffs, we are delivering solid performance that will safeguard the pensions of hundreds of thousands of hardworking public servants.
