Happy Summer Days to all!

July was a typically busy summer month in Jackson  but I hope everyone had some time to enjoy our glorious outdoors.

I wanted to address the OBBB (One bloated, bigoted and basically horrible bill) in this newsletter. It will affect every single one of us and I encourage all of you to let our Legislators know what you think of it.

If you aren't already using the app 5 Calls, I highly recommend it.  It gives you background on current issues along with a script and phone numbers. Simple and effective.

For details on how the bill will impact us here in Wyoming, check out this helpful website: http://trumptax.com

Some key points:
  • Over 20,000 Wyomingites will lose health insurance
  • 2,000-3,000 Wyomingites are at risk of losing food assistance.
  • Combined with Trump’s reckless tariff agenda, the median household will lose over $1,600 annually
  • Wyomingites’ electricity bills will rise by 29.2%
  • Trump’s reckless tariffs have already cost Wyoming businesses $16.4 million
Our democracy is being undermined and attacked every day. Healthcare, infrastructure, the climate and basic human rights are being destroyed in part by this bill and a Republican-controlled Congress. The hysteria the republicans stir up about the debt and deficit being out of control is a joke. This bill will add $3 trillion to our debt.

Harriet Hageman told us in a Town Hall in Pinedale that Netflix can replace PBS!

It is a sorry state of affairs. BUT we will keep moving forward and helping where we can.

Crazy, hazy days of summer

We are fortunate that Jackson can offer such beauty and engaged art community which means that town is very busy right now along with all the hiking trails, fishing spots and the pickleball courts at Miller Park. Our Instagram feed (@tetonwydems) which Julien Hass monitors always has up to date events and activities.

Please feel free to email [email protected] if you have items for us to include.

Town hall in Pinedale
On Tuesday, July 29th Representative Hageman held a town in Pinedale. It does seem that they don't like to reveal dates too far in advance so only four of us were able to get down there. The audience consisted of around 45 people and Harriet gave an overview of what she has been accomplishing. To her credit, she speaks with authority even when her statements are quite offensive or untrue. We were able to ask questions about the huge $170 billion dollar ICE Budget (consisting of both border security and detaining of undocumented people). Harriet said that number wasn't true (it is). We had a very brave 15-year-old girl ask about how to help her friends who are experiencing daily persecution. She asked why the LGBTQ Suicide hotline was cancelled. Harriet's lack of compassion was on full display when she stated "everyone is equal" with absolutely no degree of concern or caring about what this girl expressed.

Harriet then stated, "elections have consequences".
Almost a Joni Ernst ("everyone dies") moment from Harriet.
