CLIA Certification Reminders
Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) is reminding providers of laboratory services to comply with the rules and regulations of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA).
Providers must submit their CLIA certifications and can bill only for services for which they have an appropriate CLIA certification on file. Providers that do not comply with CLIA will not be reimbursed for laboratory services.
CLIA Certifications in PEMS
Providers must update their CLIA certifications during their provider enrollment revalidation in the Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) by visiting the TMHP PEMS Licenses webpage.
Providers can verify their revalidation date and enrollment information in PEMS and complete their revalidation up to 180 calendar days before their revalidation due date.
For more information and a list of the CLIA certifications types, refer to the CLIA Certification Required for Laboratory Service Claims article on TMHP’s webpage.
