Dear Friend,

I wanted to give you an update on what I’ve been working on in Congress over the last few weeks. I had the opportunity to personally thank the union flight crew whose quick thinking saved my life after a medical emergency in the air earlier this year. I also stood alongside educators to defend New Jersey’s public schools from unprecedented federal overreach, and I introduced new legislation to protect warehouse workers from dangerous quotas that put lives at risk.

No matter what President Trump sends our way, I want you to know that I am fighting for you. I’m working every day to support the people who power our country: our workers, teachers, and students. Here's a look at what I’ve been up to:

Thanking the Flight Crew that Saved My Life

Image

Congressman Norcross and Teamsters President Sean O’Brien honored the flight crew who saved Congressman Norcross’ life.

Recently, I had the honor of thanking the heroes who saved my life: Captain Michael Tibaldo, First Officer James Kim, and Flight Attendants Donnell Mitchell and Jaclyn Curry.

On April 6, I was flying on Republic Flight 4711 when I experienced a medical emergency. The crew members didn’t hesitate. They gave me emergency care, diverted the flight, and got me to a hospital. Those decisive actions saved my life.

The pilot and flight attendants on that flight, all union members with Teamsters Locals 357 and 135, acted swiftly. Teamsters President Sean O’Brien joined me when I presented each of them with a framed Congressional Record honoring their heroic actions.

I’ll never forget what these union workers did for me. And I’m forever grateful to the doctors and nurses at UNC Rex Hospital and Cooper University Hospital who helped me fully recover.

Protecting New Jersey’s Public Schools

Congressman Norcross meets with members of the New Jersey Education Association.

New Jersey public schools are some of the best in the nation. As a product of the New Jersey school system, I will always fight to make sure our students have access to the tools they need to prepare for their future.

It was great to chat with the New Jersey Education Association about how Congress is fighting back against the Trump administration's unprecedented attacks on education.

Last week, the Trump administration announced that they will release the $7 billion in funding they were illegally withholding for our schools after my New Jersey democratic colleagues and I demanded they release these funds.

Our teachers and education staff keep our country running, and they deserve reliable access to the funding they need to support our students.

Protecting Warehouse Workers from Unfair Quotas

Image
After New Jersey warehouse workers died on the job, Congressman Norcross pushed for answers and introduced legislation to prevent more deaths and injuries.

In 2022, three New Jersey warehouse workers tragically lost their lives on the job within weeks of each other. Their deaths shined a light on the dangerous working conditions and high injury rates that far too many warehouse workers face. As a former electrician, I know what it’s like to lose a coworker on the job. No one should lose their life because of poor safety measures. The Warehouse Worker Protection Act is a necessary step to ensure that every worker can come home safely at the end of the day.
