Hi John.

I understand many people are concerned about the direction of our country right now.

So today, I wanted to share a quick update on how I’m working across the aisle to deliver real results for Kansans.

People in both parties were duly chosen to serve the people. We may not always agree on every issue. But if our democracy is going to work, I still believe it's important to be professional and find common ground.

Working with Both Parties to Bring Panasonic to Kansas

I was glad to recently help celebrate the grand opening of the Panasonic EV battery manufacturing plant in De Soto.

This new facility is expected to bring 4,000 direct jobs and thousands more indirect jobs to our region!

I've worked with both parties to bring this project to our region since it's earliest stages.

And I helped pass bipartisan laws to prepare the community with infrastructure upgrades. That includes improvements to 103rd Street and other roads around the new facility.

Bipartisan Bill to Give Parents Power over their Health Care

I also recently reintroduced the bipartisan Empowering Parents’ Healthcare Choices Act.

My bipartisan bill helps parents avoid surprise medical bills. It gives parents decision-making power over their baby's health care — not insurance companies.

An obscure insurance rule can cost families thousands of dollars in surprise medical bills. You can watch this story on local Fox4 KC to see how the rule led to the Kjelshus family in Olathe getting a $270,951 out-of-network bill. I introduced the bipartisan Empowering Parents’ Healthcare Choices Act to put a stop to this.

New parents with separate health plans can be subject to the obscure "birthday" rule. Many don't know about this rule, which can arbitrarily determine which insurance plan covers a new baby. It can mean thousands of dollars in surprise medical bills for families.

I'm committed to working with both parties to put parents in charge of their family's health care. Not insurance companies.

Republicans and Democrats Help People with Disabilities Build Financial Security

And just the other week, I reintroduced the bipartisan ABLE Employment Flexibility Act. This bill is designed to help workers with disabilities build financial security without risking essential benefits.

I've been honored to work on this issue with Rachel Mast, a Kansan with Down syndrome and disability advocate.

ABLE accounts are special savings accounts for people with disabilities. They let people save money without affecting their eligibility for federal aid.

Our bipartisan bill lets employers make tax-free contributions to these accounts. This would offer greater flexibility in hiring and retaining employees with disabilities. This bipartisan bill is about helping workers achieve greater financial independence.

I'm here to serve every person and corner of our community — regardless of party. Everyone deserves a government that works for them — not special interests, billionaires, or the extremes of either party.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My warmest regards,
