The City of Laramie, Wyoming, will conduct a public meeting at 5:30 p.m., local time, on August 20, 2025, at the City of Laramie Municipal Operations Center, North Platte Conference Room, located at 4373 N. 3rd Street, Laramie, WY 82072. The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the following project(s):
Zone 1 Tank Project – This project involves constructing new treated water storage within Pressure Zone 1 to address critical system needs and enhance infrastructure resilience. The existing Zone 1, 8-million-gallon (MG) tank, a key component of the City's water distribution system, requires significant maintenance to preserve its integrity and functionality. The City of Laramie water system depends on storage in Zone 1 to enable the water treatment plant to operate at a constant rate and supply multiple pump stations pumping to Zones 2, 3 and 4. Without this storage, the system would not be able to operate. A supplemental storage solution is essential to maintain service continuity during repairs/replacement to this aging reservoir.
At the meeting, the City of Laramie will present the preliminary design of the proposed project and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements. A preliminary plan of improvements, cost estimates, and the funding plan can also be reviewed at the City of Laramie Public Works Department, 4373 N. 3rd Street, or by contacting Mark Hazelett, Project Manager, at 307-721-5237.
Based on current estimates, the City of Laramie plans to borrow $10,000,000 from the Wyoming Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. Current water user fees will repay the 20-year loan. Current large loan incentive interest rates are 0.50%.
Written comments are also welcome. Send written comments to Mark Hazelett, Senior Civil Engineer, City of Laramie, P.O. Box C, Laramie, WY 82073 by 5:00 p.m. on August 20, 2025.
