Americas”

Dear Friend,
The highly acclaimed Pontifical
“Mass of the Americas” offered in the Traditional Latin Rite, will be
celebrated on Tuesday, August 5, at the Shrine of Our Lady of
Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin. You are invited to attend, either
in person or assist via the livestream. On that day, those who attend
in person have an opportunity to gain a plenary indulgence.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of
San Francisco will serve as the Principal Celebrant of this Solemn
Pontifical Mass celebrated in the Traditional Latin Rite. Cardinal
Burke will be the homilist for this Mass, which will begin at 12:15 PM
Central Time. The liturgy will feature Frank La Rocca’s acclaimed
“Mass of the Americas,” combining Gregorian chant and traditional
Mexican melodies, including “La Guadalupana.” This date is the
patronal feast day of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome. In
2011 Pope Benedict the XVI affiliated the Shrine of Our Lady of
Guadalupe with the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (Saint Mary
Major) in Rome.
