*Celebrating
 Pride All Year Long*
Earlier this summer, my office celebrated Pride
throughout the community, including at Ross Pride, Fox Chapel Pride in
the Park, and SisTers Pgh People's Pride. Even though Pride month
celebrations have wrapped up, support for the LGBTQ community cannot
end with rainbow flags or statements without action. I'm honored to
work with my fellow Equality Caucus colleagues, LGBTQ leaders, and
citizens to push bold & proactive measures to ensure justice and
equality for everyone here in Pennsylvania. Below is a compilation of
the legislation I've cosponsored this year.
-
SB 150 - Prohibiting
discrimination based on an individual's sexual orientation, gender
 identity or expression [link 3]
-
SB 212 - Prohibition of the LGBTQ+
 Panic Defense [link 4]
-
SB 434 - Marriage Equality [link 5]
-
SB
437 - Navigating PA's Current Name Change Process [link 6]
-
SB 477
 - Removal of Sex from Birth Certificates [link 7]
-
SB 448 -
Administrative Name Change Reform [link 8]
-
SB 496 - Protecting
LGBTQ+ Students from Discrimination [link 9]
-
SB 510 - Transgender
Name Change Assistance Grants [link 10]
-
SB 521 - Removing
Publication Requirement for Name Changes [link 11]
-
SB 944 -
Protections for LGBTQ Foster and Adoptive Parents [link 12]

*Etna
 Center for Community Groundbreaking*
Congratulations to the Etna
Community Organization and Borough of Etna for breaking ground on the
new Etna Center for Community earlier this month!
I spend a lot of
time thinking about these all-important "third spaces," and how we
build authentic community that meets the needs of residents and helps
bring people together. I have been proud to help the ECO and the
Borough secure funding to create the Center for Community, and I know
it will be an incredible resource for all of the residents of
 Etna.
Whether people are looking to literally connect to Wi-Fi, to
connect to resources like after-school programming or the food pantry,
or to connect with their neighbors through activities and shared
spaces, the Center for Community will be an amazing third space that
brings people together and secures a brighter future for everyone in
 Etna.

*Urban
Ag Week Trip to Blackberry Meadows Farm*
On July 14th, I celebrated
Urban Agriculture Week with Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
Secretary Russell Redding at Blackberry Meadows Farm in Fawn Township.
This small farm is one of many in my district that grow food for the
 Pittsburgh region.
In addition to feeding our local communities,
Blackberry Meadows also participates in the PA Farm to School Network.
This program connects students with food, agriculture, health and
nutrition education, and provides the farmers with the opportunity to
sell their farm products directly to schools. In March, they brought a
farm-to-table presentation to Highlands School District students who
got to learn more about where our food comes from by starting their
own bean plants to grow at home.
Our urban and small farms diversify
and strengthen our economy, preserve green space, and put fresh
healthy food within reach of more families. You can find their
products at your local farmers market and many offer Community
Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscriptions as well.
Looking to support
local farms and get delicious food grown and processed here in PA?
Check out the PA Preferred website [link 13] to find farmers,
products, and learn more about how you can support PA
 Agriculture!

*Larimer
 Alive*
Despite the heat, residents came out for Larimer Consensus
Group's *Larimer Alive!* earlier this month. This is such a vibrant,
family-friendly event. It brings together residents, local
organizations, and vendors to celebrate the cultural richness and
ongoing revitalization of the Larimer neighborhood. We look forward to
 coming every year!

*A
 Free Book to Comfort Kids*
Last week, Senator Jay Costa and I joined
the Allegheny County Library Association to celebrate the first Book
Vending Machine at the Allegheny County Jail. This vending machine
allows kids who are visiting an incarcerated family member or loved
one to get a free book to keep and build their home library.
Access
to books at home is one of the biggest indicators of academic success
for kids. But more than that, stories change lives. They let us see
ourselves and our experiences reflected in literature and let us know
we aren't alone. And they open windows to new places, giving us a
chance to learn new things and escape into new worlds.
The bottom
line? Books change lives for the better. I'm so grateful to have
worked with ACLA on this project to get more books into the hands of
kids and meet them where they are.

*Be
Alert: Another False PA DMV Scam*
There is a new version of text
scams going around, this time claiming to be from the "Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles" and urging you to take care
 of outstanding traffic tickets.
All Pennsylvania residents should
*not respond, avoid clicking links, and not provide personal
information* via texts or emails that claim to represent
 transportation agencies in the Commonwealth.
*What You Should
 Know:*

Do not click any links in texts or emails claiming to be
from transportation agencies if you did not initiate the contact.
-
To manage your toll account safely, use the official PA Turnpike
E-ZPass website [link 15] or the PA Toll Pay app [link 16], available
on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
-
PennDOT does not collect
 toll payments.
*If You Think You've Been Targeted:*
-
Log in to
your E-ZPass or Toll By Plate account to check for suspicious
 activity.
-

Center at 877-736-6727, Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 6:00
 P.M.

 legitimate through official channels.
-
If you clicked a suspicious
link or shared sensitive information, take immediate steps to secure
your accounts and dispute unfamiliar charges.
-
Scam attempts should
be reported to the Federal Trade Commission at

**The Art of Labor*** Exhibit at Rivers of Steel*
*Open
through October 24, 2025, Bost Building, 623 E. Eighth Avenue,
 Homestead, PA 15120*
Recently, I went to the opening of *The Art of
Labor* exhibit, which is a joint effort of Rivers of Steel and The
Battle of Homestead Foundation. *The Art of Labor* has pieces in many
different mediums that show how industrial workers have been portrayed
from the beginning of the industrial revolution to today and features
works from Joe and Delsa White's extensive collection of labor art. It
really is a "must see" for anyone who is interested in art or the
 labor movement in this country.
The exhibit runs through October
 24,2025 and is open Monday-Friday from 10am - 3pm and by appointment.
Admission donations are requested. For more information and to
