Dear Friend, In this week's roundup: Protecting our seniors' Social Security benefits and new trade deals for America. PROTECTING SOCIAL SECURITY FOR IOWA SENIORS After a lifetime of hard work, our seniors deserve to retire with dignity and receive the Social Security benefits that they earned. However, thanks to reckless government spending and congressional inaction, the Congressional Budget Office forecasts that the Social Security Trust Fund will run out of sufficient funds by 2033 to pay Social Security benefits in full. It’s wrong and absolutely unacceptable. That’s why I introduced the Save Our Seniors Act to help protect the long-term solvency of Social Security by requiring the Congressional Budget Office to include an honest and accurate projection of Social Security’s financial health in its annual ten-year economic outlook. This fix will ensure that our seniors receive their Social Security checks on time and in full while demanding real solutions from Congress to keep the Social Security Trust Fund solvent for generations to come. PRESIDENT TRUMP'S WORKING-CLASS TAX CUTS ARE JET FUEL FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” is jet fuel for our economy. Per the Council of Economic Advisers, our GDP could grow by over 5% in the short run and nearly 4% in the long run while investments in our economy could see a nearly 15% boost. These dollars will help protect Fremont County taxpayers from increased fees to cover flood repairs and ensure that our communities have the resources they need to rebuild from past disasters. I encourage Iowans to contact our office online at Feenstra.House.Gov or by phone at 202-225-4426 if we can be helpful with navigating the federal government, including VA benefits, Medicare, passports, and much more. We stand ready to help and find solutions to challenges facing our communities. 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE LYON COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT I’m glad that our Agriculture and Manufacturing Liaison — Wes — could attend the 75th anniversary celebration of the Lyon County Soil and Water Conservation District. GROWING THE ECONOMY AND SUPPORTING OUR MAIN STREETS President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” will dramatically grow our economy, revive American manufacturing, and support our Main Streets. It is also the largest tax cut in U.S. history for families, farmers, workers, seniors, and small businesses. This is what “promises made, promises kept” looks like! TEAM FEENSTRA AT THE WEBSTER COUNTY FARM BUREAU ANNUAL DINNER This week, our Regional Director — Jim — attended the Webster County Farm Bureau annual dinner in Fort Dodge. We secured important wins for Iowa agriculture in President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” like increased death tax relief and stronger crop insurance protections. I will always support our family farms and Iowa agriculture! PRESIDENT TRUMP SIGNS NEW LAW TO HELP OUR VETERANS I thank President Trump for signing into law the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act, which will help keep veterans in their homes and alleviate financial stress. This law ensures that veterans who have fallen on tough times can receive relief on late mortgage payments and avoid foreclosure. Our veterans are true American heroes, and this law represents a small token of our gratitude and appreciation for their service. MY WEEKLY COLUMN: PRESIDENT TRUMP IS SECURING STRONG TRADE DEALS FOR AMERICAN FARMERS, WORKERS, AND BUSINESSES Global trade is a crucial component of the American economy, ensuring that our businesses, manufacturers, and farmers can sell their high-quality goods across the world and make continued investments in our country. However, for decades, foreign nations have taken advantage of the American marketplace by illegally dumping products at our ports, a common practice by China, and imposing baseless and unscientific restrictions on U.S. exports. With the election of President Trump, the era of American industry, workers, and farms being mistreated and taken advantage of is over. Read more from my weekly column below.
