Donald Trump’s chaotic trade war is taking a serious toll as inflation continues to climb and New Jerseyans face higher prices. Whether it’s factories seeing higher operating costs or beef and orange juice prices going through the roof, businesses and families are feeling the squeeze. Yet Jack Ciattarelli remains all in with Trump. 

Meanwhile, this week we marked the 60th anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare. Since 1965, these programs have been a lifeline for millions of New Jerseyans, offering access to lifesaving health care. These programs are a reflection of our values, that everyone should have access to quality, affordable coverage in their times of need, no matter their age or their income. However, today, Donald Trump, and his loyal backers like Jack Ciatterelli and Congressmen Tom Kean Jr., Jeff Van Drew, and Chris Smith, threaten to eviscerate this security. Trump’s federal budget rips this essential care from New Jerseyans to give more tax handouts to billionaires. But we will not stand idly by while Donald Trump creates a health care crisis. Democrats will continue to fight tooth and nail to elect Mikie Sherrill our next governor who will protect access to health care and never put politics over people.

Trump’s rampage to cut “waste” and end diversity, equity and inclusion programs has impacted the lives of millions of Americans. As the new school year approaches, educators are speaking out on what these cuts mean for our kids. In April, Trump halted grants meant for mental health resources in schools. School systems in almost every state in the country were already struggling with proper staffing before this cut. Without these federal grants, it could get worse. 

Trump is playing politics with our kids. It’s a dangerous move that only adds to the mental health crisis that worsened during COVID. Throughout her time in Congress, Mikie Sherrill has secured critical federal grants for mental health resources and as governor, she would continue to stand up for our kids – unlike Jack Ciattarelli, who backs Trump without reservations.

Last week, Mikie Sherrill announced her pick for Lieutenant Governor: Dr. Dale Caldwell! Dr. Caldwell is an educator, pastor, and community leader with a wealth of experience serving our state. 

New Jerseyans across this state are rallying behind this powerhouse ticket. Mayors, labor leaders, community action groups, civil rights leaders, and more are excited to vote for this team that will fight for a brighter, more affordable Garden State. 

Together, Mikie and Dale have been traveling the state, meeting voters and building on the incredible momentum behind their campaign to bring real change to New Jersey.

Donald Trump’s price hike federal budget is costing New Jerseyans in more ways than one, all to benefit the wealthiest of his friends. The new law takes an ax to Social Security, gutting it by 24% by late 2032.

What does that mean for New Jersey seniors? A loss of $18,000 annually. There are estimates that this could double the poverty rate amongst seniors.

What does Jack Ciattarelli think of all this? Nothing good. He says there’s nothing he disagrees with the president on and is completely behind this federal budget. It’s clear Jack’s wrong for Jersey.

Murphy Signs Executive Order to Mitigate Impact of Federal Budget 

Trump’s price hike federal budget, backed by Jack Ciattarelli, makes devastating cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. In New Jersey alone, we’re losing $3.6 billion in funding and leaving 350,000 residents, mostly seniors and children, without healthcare. 800,000 would lose access to their ability to afford groceries. 

This week, our governor, Phil Murphy, signed an executive order to mobilize state agencies around mitigating the impact of this law and ensuring residents don’t fall through the bureaucratic cracks Trump’s budget causes.
