We’re offering grants of $500-$1,000 to community-based organizations to cover costs associated with planning and hosting of Transit Month events. The deadline to apply is THIS SATURDAY, August 2nd at 11:59pm. The application should only take a few minutes and the criteria for grants are listed in the form. Events can include casual meetups, informational talks, group visits to destinations like museums, festivals, or parks, pro-transit rallies, ride-alongs with elected officials - or other creative ideas that have never been done before! We are particularly interested in events that promote transit trips, are accessible to a diverse range of participants, and promote a positive image of transit.

This is your chance to interview your District Supervisor for this year's Transit Month! |
|
|
To kick-off Transit Month, San Francisco Transit Riders hosts our annual ride-along celebration to City Hall. There, we invite guest speakers, local elected officials, and community leaders to speak about the importance of Transit Month.
This year, our members have a special opportunity to get involved by engaging in one-on-one interviews with their district supervisors on board a Muni bus. Since we can only have a limited amount of people on board, we're asking that you submit your best questions, by clicking the button below. The members who leave the most relevant, engaging, and thought-provoking questions will be invited on board a vintage streetcar to interview their Supervisor directly.
If you're interested in volunteer for Transit Month in general, fill out this form here. |

Support these SFTR members to launch their Muni-themed magazine! |
About COMMUNITY Magazine
SFTR members Jac and Dylan are working to launch COMMUNITY, a non-profit print magazine that celebrates Muni, encourages ridership, and promotes transit advocacy. COMMUNITY aims to tell Muni’s greatest stories, and offers a tangible representation of the perspectives, views, and stories we only get when we ride Muni.
Each edition of COMMUNITY will focus on a different segment of a different Muni line, including features like local businesses along the line, firsthand experiences from Muni operators and employees, things to do along the line, rider stories, and photos/art that underscore the beauty of our city. The magazine will also include interactive features and elements - think crosswords, scavenger hunts, missed connections on Muni, and more. COMMUNITY will be a print only publication, giving San Franciscans something tangible to feel, see and read - especially while they ride Muni.
Jac and Dylan are looking for volunteer support as they launch, and are most immediately looking for graphic designers, contributors, and photographers. |

| Tell SF's leaders: Progressively fund Muni! To continue funding the lifeline of our city, we need progressive revenue sources that distribute the burden equitably. Sign this petition to tell San Francisco's leaders that you support a progressive Muni funding measure for next year--one that doesn't disproportionately burden lower-income San Franciscans! Sign the petition here. |

| Tell Mayor Lurie: Keep Market Street Moving! There are better ways to revitalize downtown.
Mid-Market’s struggles predate car restrictions. Adding cars won’t solve vacancy, safety, or vibrancy. Instead, the city should invest in public space, street activation, economic development, and projects like the Urban Land Institute’s new Market Street design competition.
Sign the petition now to demand a better future for Market Street: car-free, people-first, and built for San Francisco’s future, not its past. |
