Hello friends,

I hope this letter finds you well and hopeful. Change is coming, and the powers that be know it. I'm going to give you an update on what I've been doing, but first I have to ask you all to donate what you can afford to our efforts. I don't want you to think of it as giving me money or giving money to a political campaign. I want you to see it as an investment in our future, the future of our children and our children's children.

Also, beginning September 12, we will be collecting signatures to get our campaign on the ballot. We are going to need a lot of volunteers to help with that, and raising some money to help with fuel costs and fliers to pass out would be very helpful. This is something we've all got to do together. From this moment forward, we must create a world that is free from the influence of big corporations and the billionaires that run them.

U.S. history is full of moments when inequality came to a head - indentured servitude in the 1600's, Bacon's Rebellion in 1676, the decade before the Revolutionary War, the decade before the Civil War, the depression of 1893, the Great Depression of the 1930's. Each time, the powers that be, the establishment gave just enough wealth to just enough people to keep everyone in line, or they faced an uprising.

That is what the establishment is seeking to do now, when the President takes an action like eliminating college debt for veterans, which is a very good thing, but it only reaches a small number of people. Not everyone. Forgiving college debt would put more money in people's pockets, and as a result, inject hundreds of billions of dollars into our economy. The bankers would rather keep that money. They are happy to give up a small amount of it to veterans in order to try and keep the rest of it.

We must not allow ourselves to feel complacent because we got a tax cut or our student loans forgiven. Millions of other people are counting on our unity. We must stand together or we will continue to live in a world run by oligarchs who care nothing for everyday people like you and me and who, through their denial of the crisis we are facing through climate destabilization, are putting everyone at risk.

And this is not just our country that is affected by our efforts, or lack thereof. Millions of people, poor people, are being bombed by our military for the resources their country possesses, whether it's oil or uranium or magnesium for computer chips. This our military is doing in your name and with your tax dollars. We need a political revolution that takes the power away from the oligarchs and gives all of the power to all of the people. Ralph Nader said it best "In a true democracy the highest role is citizen." And that is where we need to be. Won't you join me?

I made a video for social media, about 10 days ago, where I spoke about the newest 2 year spending deal, which had an expanded military budget quietly wrapped up in it. During the filming of this video, I realized that this was the message that I had to take to a larger audience: that our bloated military budget is the reason that your Grandmother's social security check isn't more, the reason we have homeless veterans and the reason elected officials tell us that we cannot have single payer health care like the rest of the industrialized world. I promised, in this video, to take that message to city council meeting and boards of supervisor meetings all over this district.

I believe this is the message that people need to hear. Most of us want the wars we are fighting to end. Most of us do not want more war. And when I say "most of us" I don't mean a small margin, I mean almost all of us. Nobody wants their child to go to war, especially knowing that that war is being fought for oil, such as the current regime is pushing for in Iran and Venezuela. Here is a video of my comments to the Napa County Board of Supervisors. I have delivered basically the same comments to the Solano County Supervisors and to the Benicia City Council, and will continue to try to raise awareness of the truth of America's military involvement overseas.

I've also been very involved in the Bernie Sanders campaign- perhaps more involved than I was in 2016. The organizing and barnstorm meetings I've been to have been a great way to "preach to the choir" about our campaign, as well. During the coming months, I will be hosting a number of neighborhood canvassing events, as well as tabling for both campaigns. These events will primarily be in American Canyon, Vallejo and Napa. If you live in these areas, you can sign up through Berniesanders.com .

One more thing I want to mention is that a couple of days ago, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law Assembly Bill 392, regarding police use of deadly force. This is the bill that a group of activists from Vallejo, and myself, went to Sacramento to lobby for. A number of us also went to Sacramento for the safety hearing. I want to give a shout out to Dr. Rhonda Renfro for organizing this effort and I want to thank TJ Walkup, Matthew Finkelstein, Ruscal Cayangyang, Gretchen Zimmerman, Susan George, Jason La Bou, Brien Farrell, Darrell Edwards, Marianne Kearney-Brown, Jeriann Guzman, Terrence Vadem, Noah Dove, Billie Timpano and the other 2 or 3 people whose names I didn't get and the hundred other activists that showed up. Together we stood up and made real change. Together we made a difference and saved lives. You all inspire me.
