John – This week marks 60 years since Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law: two pillars of our nation’s social safety net.

In Washington, our Medicaid program is called Apple Health – and nearly 2 million Washingtonians rely on it for life-saving healthcare. That includes nearly 40% of our children, 35% of moms giving birth and their newborns, and our seniors in nursing homes.

Despite decades of success keeping families healthy, housed, and out of poverty – MAGA Republicans just passed the largest cuts to Medicaid in U.S. history under Donald Trump’s cruel and shameful ‘Big Bogus Bill.’
