Friends — it’s Pete Buttigieg.

I’m writing today to ask if you’ll support Pat Ryan as he gears up for his re-election campaign in one of America’s most competitive House seats. 

Pat and I have a shared vision for leadership that stems from similar experiences. We both served in uniform and care deeply about upholding our nation’s sacred obligation to our veterans. We also both understand what it means to be rooted in local service, and how local offices – mayors, county executives, city councils – represent the most vital venue for problem-solving and deserve more help from Washington. 

And most importantly, we both prize one title above all others – that of father – raising children who push us and inspire us to leave this country better than we found it. 

After getting to know Pat the last few years, I can say that he is a role model for how Democrats can approach a competitive, swing district. He’s focused on making government work for his community, having tough conversations with anyone willing to listen, and fighting to reclaim the mantle of “freedom” from the right – because the party that’s ripping away the services and protections we need is making everyone less free.

I’ve seen Pat in action firsthand, as we teamed up to deliver better infrastructure for his constituents. Every day he is working to improve services, lower costs, support our veterans, and protect our rights. He is exactly the type of smart, principled leader our country needs right now. 

Pat’s leadership for his community, combined with the fact that NY-18 will play an essential role in taking back the House next November, is why I am reaching out to ask you today:
