My friend,
Here's a quick update on what I've been working on during a busy few weeks in Washington, DC, Staten Island, and Southern Brooklyn...
| | ONE BIG, BEAUTIFUL LAW DELIVERS HISTORIC TAX RELIEF | |
This month has been historic for Staten Islanders, Brooklynites, and families across the nation who have been calling for meaningful tax relief. Our recently passed Big Beautiful Law puts America first by strengthening our borders, military, and delivering tax relief for American workers, middle-class families, and senior citizens. We made President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent but also ensure 88% of senior citizens will no longer have a federal tax liability on their Social Security income, as well as quadrupling the SALT deduction which will cover 98% of taxpayers in our district.
Our legislation also raises the standard deduction, eliminates taxes on tips for service workers, provides relief for small businesses, expands the Child Tax Credit, and allows American families to fully deduct auto loan interest when they buy an American-made car. This is all to ensure hardworking Americans keep more of their hard-earned money.

| | MEETING WITH THE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER OF RICHMOND | |
This month, I was happy to meet with the Community Health Center of Richmond to discuss the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act of 2025, legislation that I am leading to continue supporting maternal health programs. This program has delivered more than $2 million in the past two years to my district to support women, infants, and families in low-income communities. I look forward to continuing working to get this legislation across the finish line.
| | CATCHING UP WITH CHANCELLOR AND VICE CHANCELLOR OF SUNY | | | It was great to catch up with the SUNY Chancellor John King Jr. and Vice Chancellor Will Schwartz this month. We discussed ways to boost enrollment at SUNY Maritime College, which offers a strong career pathway for those interested in joining Staten Island’s robust maritime employers including the Staten Island Ferry. I’m proud to represent nearly 5,000 current SUNY students and more than 23,000 SUNY alumni who call our district home. | | TALKING HELICOPTER TRAFFIC WITH THE FAA | | This month, I met with newly appointed FAA Deputy Administrator Chris Rocheleau to discuss quality of life and safety concerns with frequent, low altitude helicopter flights over Staten Island. I hope we can work together to improve standards for the industry that will minimize this air traffic and noise affecting our community. | | | THANK YOU FOR JOINING OUR LIVE TELEPHONE TOWN HALL! | | Thank you to the more than 3,500 constituents who joined this month’s live telephone town hall! I appreciate hearing directly from you about the issues that matter most to our community. During the call, I provided updates on what I’m working on in Washington, DC, answered your questions, and shared details about the One Big Beautiful Law. In case you missed it, you can listen in using the link below. I hope you can join us next time! | | WE’RE HERE TO HELP WITH YOUR WASHINGTON, DC VISIT! | | It’s always great to meet constituents at my Washington office! | INVESTING IN FORT HAMILTON | | Great news! Thanks to funding I supported, Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn will be receiving significant funding for grounds maintenance, electrical & plumbing repairs, road work and more infrastructure upgrades! | | | HOSTED THIS YEAR'S MILITARY ACADEMY INFORMATION NIGHT | |
Our office was proud to host a U.S. Service Academy Information Night this month. At this event, we welcomed representatives from West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy to share details about the application process and Congressional nominations with local students and families. It’s my highest honor to nominate outstanding students to our nation’s Service Academies. Good luck to all applicants as you begin this process.

| | | STATEN ISLAND-BROOKLYN FAST FERRY COMMENT PERIOD NOW OPEN | |
I also want to share that the New York City Economic Development Corporation is seeking public comment on proposed new fast ferry routes across the city including one that would reconnect Staten Island and Brooklyn by ferry for the first time since 1964!
For years, we’ve urged the city to better utilize our waterways to ease traffic and expand transportation options for Staten Islanders and Brooklynites. Now, for the first time in decades, the city is one step closer to making this long-awaited route a reality.
The public comment period is open throughout the summer, and we encourage everyone to complete the form and have their voices heard. If there is enough positive feedback, the Staten Island–Brooklyn ferry could launch as early as this winter finally providing both boroughs with greater access to reliable and affordable ferry service.
| | ACCESSIBILITY UPGRADES TO BAY RIDGE-95TH STREET STATION | | We joined the Bay Ridge community in celebrating the completion of the new ADA-compliant elevators at the Bay Ridge–95th Street R station. These upgrades will ensure greater accessibility for our neighbors who need it most and that’s why I voted for the federal infrastructure law that brought more funds for similar transit, bridge and maritime projects to keep New York moving. | | | Rep. Malliotakis’ legislation could make $250 billion available for middle-class housing | Bipartisan federal legislation backed by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis could make $250 billion available for middle income housing around the country. | | | Breaking down what's in the 'Big, Beautiful Bill,' and its impact on New Yorkers | On this week's Power & Politics, News 12's Amanda Bossard is joined by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis who discusses what's in President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" and how it's going to impact New Yorkers. | | | NY pols push IRS to probe nonprofit ‘sanctuary’ groups helping defy Trump, federal immigration laws | Reps. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island) and Claudia Tenney (R-Watertown) questioned the four groups’ nonprofit status in a letter to the IRS after an expose by The Post that revealed the groups took in more than $600 million in public funds while simultaneously pushing New York’s sanctuary policies. | | | Rep. Malliotakis: Staten Islanders will benefit from SALT deduction increase in Trump’s tax bill |
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, the champion of the state and local tax deduction boost, gave her stamp of approval on the Senate’s changes proposed in President Donald Trump’s tax reconciliation bill, dubbed by the GOP as the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
Raising state and local tax deductions, or SALT deductions for short, has been a major priority for Malliotakis. She originally petitioned for a permanent cap raise to $30,000.

| Trump targets New York drug ‘injection sites’ where addicts consume with the city’s blessing |
Earlier this year, Malliotakis reintroduced her legislation — the Defund Heroin Injection Centers Act of 2025 — which would put into law Trump’s executive order and permanently block federal funding for injection sites or “illicit operations.”
In February, she urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to close the two city injection sites operated by OnPointNYC. The two injection sites in the city are in East Harlem and Washington Heights.
