Dear John,
Behind each headline about soaring egg prices hides a darker truth: "depopulation."
This innocuous term conceals a grim reality: the routine, industrial-scale on-farm killing of entire flocks or herds by the meat and egg industries.
Depopulation is not merely a response to avian flu; it's a regular reaction to supply chain disruptions. In fact, as a result of slaughterhouse shutdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of hens, pigs, and other animals were killed en masse.
The methods used for depopulation are chilling. Animals are often suffocated with water-based foam, similar to firefighting foam. This causes severe respiratory distress and prolonged suffering before death. Others are subjected to "ventilation shutdown"—turning off the air systems in crowded sheds—which leads to fatal heatstroke.
These animals endure unimaginable terror and suffering in their final moments, all in the name of efficiency.
Today, we have an opportunity to change this. The Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act (IAA) is a crucial piece of legislation designed to put an end to such cruel practices.

The IAA would impose strict fines for factory farms that cling to these barbaric methods, place restrictions on their operations, and—most importantly—erode the federal funding that currently incentivizes this monstrous practice.
We urgently need your help to ensure the success of this pivotal act.

By standing with us, you can help put an end to the unseen horror of depopulation and create a more compassionate world for farmed animals.
Thank you for your courage, commitment, and partnership in this crucial battle.
Sincerely,
