Connecting Innovation: STEAM, Quantum and Empowering the Future
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) returns to the 2025 Illinois State Fair with a dynamic showcase of quantum technology and innovation, offering hands-on experiences that highlight Illinois’ role in shaping the future.
“Our state is leading the way forward for the next wave of technological innovation, and DoIT will be putting that on full display at the Illinois State Fair,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “I encourage Illinoisans of all ages to get out and experience the Illinois of tomorrow – from artificial intelligence to 3D printing to quantum computing and beyond.”
DoIT has partnered with organizations around the state to showcase engaging and innovative STEAM activities and demos for all ages. DoIT’s theme, “Connecting Innovation: STEAM, Quantum and Empowering the Future,” will inspire fairgoers with creative activities focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
This year’s theme highlights Illinois as a hub of innovation with a special focus on quantum technology and its relevance to everyday life. DoIT’s display complements this focus by offering experiences that celebrate the state’s legacy of innovation while exploring its future through emerging technologies.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring the spirit of Illinois innovation to the Illinois State Fair,” said DoIT Acting Secretary and State Chief Information Officer Brandon Ragle. “The DoIT team has created an interactive playground where STEAM and quantum concepts come to life, offering fairgoers a unique opportunity to engage with the future of technology in a fun and educational way. We hope you’ll join us there.”
Starting August 7th, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and educational activities at the Governor’s Tent located at Brian Raney Avenue and Main Street, including:
