Dear MoveOn member,
Last week, Donald Trump’s Justice Department announced that they would be interviewing Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirator who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for child sex trafficking.1
Did they send a team of trained prosecutors or investigators to conduct the interview? No. They sent one man, Todd Blanche, who currently serves as deputy attorney general but was previously Donald Trump’s personal lawyer.2
As evidence mounts that Trump and his administration are blocking the release of the Epstein files in order to cover up Trump’s involvement with Epstein, Trump sent his personal lawyer to speak, alone, with the only person alive who may be able to provide those details.3
And now Trump himself is refusing to rule out giving Maxwell—a convicted child sexual predator—a full pardon.4
It’s sick. And it is only made worse by the fact that Trump’s Republican sycophants in Congress are bending over backward to protect him. MAGA House Speaker Mike Johnson went so far as to send Congress home for the August recess early in order to stop a vote calling for the Epstein files to be released.5
We need to sound the alarm, continue to build the pressure on Trump to release the files, and ensure that this cover-up stays in the news. Which is why we have just launched a billboard in the center of Mike Johnson’s district demanding the files be released, and why we want to put up a second billboard in front of Mar-a-Lago—if we have the funds to do it.
Can you help us keep our first billboard up as long as possible, get the funding we need to put up another one in front of Mar-a-Lago, and expand the campaign to stop the cover-up? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Trump has now spent weeks desperately trying to distract the American people from this scandal.
But we’re not falling for it.
A new poll shows that just 13 percent of voters approve of Trump’s handling of the Epstein case—and 60 percent of Republican respondents said they do not think the administration has been transparent.6
MoveOn is harnessing this energy and has launched a multipronged campaign on this issue, including a petition calling for the release of the Epstein files that has been signed by more than 46,000 MoveOn members across the country.7
Now, we need to take the next step: put up a billboard at Mar-a-Lago and flood Republican districts with ads exposing the cover-up.
Will you donate $9 right now to MoveOn’s campaign to expose the Epstein cover-up and ensure the Epstein files are released? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Thanks for all you do.
