Trump just launched a plan to decimate the EPA's ability to fight climate change as a giveaway to the corporate polluters who got him elected.
These environmental protections are critical to protecting the people and places we love. We can't let them destroy our clean air, clean water, and climate safeguards without fighting back.
Will you demand the EPA do its job to protect our environment?

💥 What happened? (the quick version):
Trump's EPA proposed a plan to end the longstanding greenhouse gas endangerment finding. If finalized, this action will devastate the EPA's ability to limit climate pollution under the federal Clean Air Act. They also plan to roll back emissions standards for cars and trucks.
These safeguards keep pollution out of our air and water, fight climate change, and protect precious ecosystems. If this decision stands, it will cause thousands of Americans to die each year, as extreme heat, wildfires, storms, and more will only worsen.
If you have a moment, read on to learn why these actions are so devastating and what we can do about it.
🤷🏻♀️ Why is this happening?
Corporate polluters and billionaires paid big money to get Trump elected. Now, they're getting what they paid for. These actions are betraying the American people, offering up our climate, health, and future to the highest bidder, and making us pay for it.
🚨 What is at stake?
Trump is planning to eliminate the "endangerment finding," which determined that greenhouse gases heating up the planet threaten public health and welfare. This comes from a 2007 Supreme Court decision on a case brought by the Sierra Club, partner environmental organizations, and a dozen states and cities, establishing the EPA's obligation to limit climate pollution.
The proposals, if adopted, would exacerbate pollution and lock in even more damage to our air and climate in the future, harm that we know is felt disproportionately in frontline and fenceline communities and communities of color.
Yes, you read that right -- As climate-fueled wildfires, floods, and hurricanes devastate more and more of our communities, Trump is trying to speed things up.
The science is clear: if we don't safeguard our families from climate pollution, the effects will only get worse. Storms, heat waves, and fires will become more frequent and endanger more lives. Deadly air pollution will increase. Many thousands of people will die, ecosystems will be destroyed, and the very future of life on this planet will be at risk.
🫵 What can we do?
This announcement was only a step in their plan to roll back these life-saving protections. Nothing has been eliminated, yet.
With each disastrous development, we are turning the tide of public opinion against Trump's dangerous and illegal actions. We must keep it up.
The more we fight back by taking action, sharing, and publicly demanding accountability, the less likely it is that Trump and his EPA will be able to get away with their absurd corporate giveaway. Our actions are already working. Our pressure helped remove some of the worst pieces of Trump's dirty budget bill just a few short weeks ago.
If the EPA finalizes this proposal, Big Oil and Gas will be able to pollute freely. This will create complete chaos, and it will be American families who will suffer, all while polluting corporations profit at our expense. The EPA doesn't work for them; they work for us!
Will you take action now to demand the EPA do its job to protect our environment?

Take Action

Courts have consistently rejected challenges to the endangerment finding over the years. We will fight back to defend our communities, climate action, and the precious ecosystems that all living things rely on. Science and the law are on our side, but there's a long road ahead. The Sierra Club is considering all legal options available to us -- including the possibility of litigation -- as we move forward. Will you donate to support our Environmental Law Program?
