Hi john,
This past week, union members showed up in force at rallies and hearings across the state to make sure the voices of working Texans could not be ignored during the corrupt redistricting process. The passion of all who spoke and testified was felt deeply at each rally and in each hearing room.
But just hours ago, Texas lawmakers dropped a new congressional map that is as gerrymandered, racist, and corrupt as we expected. This is a direct attack on democracy and the political power of working people. They want to silence Texas workers like us by rigging election outcomes before we even get to the ballot box. We can’t let them.
The Texas House Select Committee on Redistricting will hold a public hearing this Friday, August 1. We need you to show up and speak out. Here are three ways you can take action:
-
Pack the Capitol and testify in Austin this Friday: https://bit.ly/capitolfight
-
If you're unable to attend in person, send a letter to your state representative: https://bit.ly/txredistrictingletter
-
Submit an online public comment to make sure your voice is on record: https://bit.ly/txredistrictingcomment
