The Senate could take up Jeanine Pirro’s nomination at any moment. If confirmed, she would become the top federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C. – despite a record that should disqualify her from public office entirely.
Pirro used her national platform on Fox News to attack democracy, excuse the January 6th insurrection, and smear the very prosecutors who brought violent insurrectionists to justice. She called convicted Proud Boys and Oath Keepers “hostages,” pushed debunked lies about Dominion voting machines, and claimed DOJ prosecutions were driven by political bias.
Now she wants to be the chief federal prosecutor of the nation’s capital – what a dream for Donald Trump.
If the Senate confirms her, it will send a message that defending the rule of law is optional – and that pushing dangerous conspiracies from behind a cable news desk is a qualification for high office.
