Trump and Republicans passed their “Big Ugly Bill,” and we are furious at the devastating impact that this will have on Oregonians. We will feel its negative consequences in so many aspects of life, including our:

Healthcare

• 150,00-200,000 Oregonians could lose healthcare coverage
• Those who don’t will face increased requirements for coverage

SNAP Assistance

• Federal cuts will cost Oregonians $425 million per year starting in 2028 – we will either have to pay this money, cut benefits, or end SNAP entirely for the 1 out of every 6 Oregonians who receive SNAP assistance

Student Loans

• Student loan borrowers will have decreased ability to pause payments due to unemployment or other financial burdens
• Repeals a Biden-era policy that allowed borrowers to extend payment plans and make more affordable payments

Environment

• Increase logging in Oregon – over the next ten years, the U.S. Forest Service will grow operations by 75%
• Oregon was guaranteed close to $200 million in federal funds to tackle climate change through the Inflation Reduction Act – now future programs and funds won’t happen, and ongoing projects and programs could see cuts

There is no hiding how horrible this bill is, but there is still hope, and we must continue to fight for our future - please help fuel our fight with a contribution.
